I’ll be there doing radio reports on AM 1230 KTRF, Thief River Falls. I will also be fishing and can’t wait. It looks as though the weather might actually be pretty nice too!!

    Yee Haw….

Another place you could try is Tims Outboards in Hackensack, MN. I don’t have the number, but if you google it, you’ll find it.

Not the smoothest ride, but this works well. On my ice house I just have a straight axle running right through the frame with removable spindles that I had made. On each side of the house in the rear there is a boat jack. Jack the house up, pull the pins, take the wheels off, and drop each side down.

This works great if everything was fabricated well. The only thing as I mentioned, is you don’t have any suspension. It still pulls o.k. though and the house doesn’t ride as rough as you might think.

    It’s worth a look.

I have never used a Marcum, probably never will. I’m just a Vexilar man I guess. I have nothing against Marcums… infact there are a few things I like about them. The soft cases being one! The one thing I DON’T LIKE is the transducer and how it is held with the swing arm? I love my float. I would hate always putting my unit right next to the hole to run the transducer down. I like having my Vex at eye level on a bucket in the corner of my house. This is one thing I definetly like about the Vex over the Marcum. (JMO)

You could keep it for a back-up, back-up ice rod!

I saw an infomercial on one that is longer, like 5ft or so and still folds into nothing. I highly doubt I would ever buy one, but it’s still a neat idea.

$2,499..Please tell me that is for everything including screen? I saw that on Al Linders Angling Edge, looks cool! I would buy one if I had the money lying around, why not…some high rollers spend close to that on new depth finders.

I’m with Grump…I would take off and forget it down. Infact, a couple weeks ago after jigging all day, I organized everything in the boat, put my life jacket on, started the motor and started back towards the launch…. Well after a few hundred yards I happened to look back too see alot of splashing! What the heck is that??? Oh…the anchor! No harm, but I felt pretty stupid.

Outdated? Who made the “NEW” Upper Red Lake Paper Map? I thought for sure it said Lake Master on it? It had extremely good detail and I’m fairly positive it had 6″ changes. (I could be wrong) Sorry if I was/am wrong, but I thought the paper map that came is the same thing that was going to come out on the new chip for electronics this year? Atleast thats what I was told…I could be wrong, I’m not trying to say “I’m right”, just that the map I looked at didn’t “suprise” me. Sure it looks o.k., but I doubt it’s going to help out ALOT when it comes to catching Upper Red Lake Crappies. I guess I’ll find out this winter, when I’m catching less fish than others on Upper Red because I didn’t buy the chip.

If it’s a different map than the one I had looked at earlier this year, then just forget everything I said.

No offense to anyone, but I think the Red Lake Map Chip is the last one I would ever buy! The lake for the most part (as mentioned) is a shallow bowl. There really isn’t much to look at on the map besides a few small features. If you want a preview, there are paper maps available with great detail for the lake. After you look at the paper map, then you can decide if you still think it’s worth it?

    Just my 2 cents…

I say it’s real. If it’s fake, someone spent ALOT of time doing it. I work with computers and photo programs everyday and it’s really hard to enlarge something and keep the other small details looking exactly the same. Usually in a “fake” photo, you can pick out something right next to the outline of the “body” somewhere that is stretched, tightened or something similar. I don’t see anything like this in this photo, but I can’t zoom in very close to get a good look either.

I’m not saying it can’t be done, just that it’s not likely.
