I have some morels left from last spring in the freezer.

Looks and sounds like a great way to use some up with either some tenderlions or backstraps.

Maybe tonight I will have a suprise for my bride.

    Thanks Joel.

Once you used the caddy, I have to believe one would never take it back out.

I must be one of those.

I have been fishing a smaller, very shallow lake and have been using the wheeler for the past 5 days.

The first day I went there I pulled my portable out and checked numerous holes for 6 inches of ice.

This weekend came and the warm weather and wind concerned me alot so I walked out again and found this lake lost no depth in the ice.

Fished it today and it is now 7.5 inches. So, it has gained 1.5 inches in the last 5 days even in these temps as the nights are still below freezing.

This is of course on a a lake I know very well for the past 10 years. I only go to my fishing spot and do not venture elsewhere on the wheeler, all that is on foot unitl I can check the ice depth.

I own a few poetables and the 2 I use the most is my Otter Cabin for early ice and when it gets colder out, then I pull out my Canvas craft insulated portable.

Very nice, well built house and is very easy to heat.

Otter also has thier new insulated portable.

Both are a few more bucks than a regular one but they sure are nice.

On windy days if I am not using the 4 wheeler on glare ice, then I use ice anchors to anchor it to the ice. Holds great

    I agree wholeheardtly with Joel.

Since I installed mine, I do not have stuff rolling around oon the floor of the tub.

I have extra hitch pins, batteries for my lights, few small tackle trays and sometimes I will carry my lunch in the caddy.

In the top try, I have bobbers and hooks and other misc gear and one is always open for a pop or brew. I flip the lid open and also use that for a tray for anything I would like to lay there as I have it rigged so it will not fall down. I also set my bait pucks on the tray so they are at hand whenever I need them.

If there is anything I need, I just open the top and there it is. No more in the pockets and wondering which one I put it in or looking all over the bottom of the tub as I usally have that full.

A great way to keep misc items stored and not a mess all ovet the portable.

Could I fish without one, of course. But I use to use a chiesel to cut holes and a pail to set on instead of a fast gas auger an a nice warm portable.

I have been using those lights for approx 2-3 years and yes, they are very bright. They are well constructed and I am sure about anyone would be happy with the light from these LED’s.

As far as run time, I have 2 in my portable and I run it off a 7amp battery. I can go for a few nights before I have to do a recharge.

I have not but that of course does not mean that it could not be done now as mine CC portable that I converted is like 4 years old.

Unless there was a change made to the Canvas Craft tub size or thier rail system to accomodate the Sportsmen caddy, it would be some expense and time to install it.

I am sure that has to be a way to get it installed in a CC portable but I took the easy way out and added the Otter rail and chair. The front part of the caddy does fit the width of the tub but it does not fit well with the CC seat rail and that is why I just changed it over. I like the caddy that much.

I did make one mistake when I wired the lights to the caddy. I should have wired some disconect connecters right outside the caddy so all I would have to do is simply unplugged the caddy from the wiring for the lights and slide it into my Otter portable. Would have saved getting another caddy.

I had to change the seat rail in my portable to an Otter to fit it correctly. I also had to trim the ends to fit as the CC tub is a bit shorter in length.

I also put in the Otter swivel, sliding seat into the portable so it really is just like an Otter. I like those newer Otter seats so much that one can slide it or swivel it.

Not that bad of a job.

Thanks for the vid James and nice job Joel.

I have a Ice 35 and a Ice 55 and I fish them together all the time with no issues.

I also use my LX5 with my Ice 55 and even when they are 3ft apart, very easy to adjust all interference. I set them both up, then turn the LX5 to SFL and NBT and then they are almost always good to go without touching the Ice55.

I have had issues fishing close to the Vex units but with some adjusting, I can get thenm to go. The Vex next to a Bird is the worst for me for some reason. Could be operator error.

Of all the products I have purchased from Cabelas and the Cabelas brand, 2 issue, one with a muzzleloader scope and they took care of that after I used it for 2 seasons. The other was with a Cabelas brand blind that was suppose to be just as good as my Double Bull blind and built just like it. It was almost a perfect copy but did not work as well. I returned it for credit with no issues. They asked if I wanted cash and I said no, I would take the credit as I was sure I would be spending it at the store or online.

    I love the place.

Best ice season for me ever I believe.

If it slows, it was a fun ride.

Seems for me traffic where i have been fishing is about normal.

If I see worms in my fish, I dig them into the flower bed for fertilizer.

I do not care for worms in my fish.

Ponder will be fine with a full off season.

I can tell you why Webb doesn’t start. I didn’t watch the whole game. But what I did watch included the last offensive play. Webb looked at one receiver the whole route, yet that player was still wide open. He proceeded to throw the ball about 5 feet over his head directly into the safeties arms.

Yes, he did make that mistake. Ponder also has made plenty but Webb offers so much more with his scrambling.

The last 3 games Webb has came in after Ponder was hurt, his stats prove otherwise. Even many announcers say this kid is good.

Webb and Ponder are both playing behind the same O-line. When the O line is bad as it seems to be alot this season, Ponder cannot move enough so he gets hurt. Webb gets moving and makes plays.

Did well on the eyes yesterday but the eyes won out today in the wind. Seems they did not want to come out and play.

I really question why Ponder starts over Webb. Joe can scramble so much more than Ponder and gives Webb many more options and added time to find a open reciever. Less sacks also as he can move out of the pocket. He looked like a greased watermelon today as 2 guys at a time had a hard time tackeling him.

I have to believe Joe’s stats are better than Ponders also but we will have Ponder as our starting QB no matter what.

One could look at the number of drives per score for Webb and Ponder and I believe Webb would come out on top of that stat also.

I have nothing against Ponder but I do believe Jow Webb could be a better future for the Vikes.

    For walleye, here are mine

1-Lindy Rattlin Flyer. The glo red is an awesome color. There are many colors to choose from.

2-JB Lures Rattlin Varmit. Again, to start out glo red.

    3-Buckshot rattle spoon.

4-Lindy Slick jig and the Lindy darter.

Others I have used with success-Jigging raps, chubby darters.

In about that order. I have boxes upon boxes of these eye lures and they all seem to catch fish but the ones listed above for me, do very well.

    Crappie

Glo red #4 Demon’s on a deadstick while jigging a 1/8oz rattlin jig like a JB lure varmit.

    Panfish

Ratso, shrimpo, JB Lures Ju-Ju in glo red. The Ratso & Shrimpo I typically tip with a piece of plastic.

Gill pills also can get the job done.

Overall as one can see, I am a glo red ice fisherman as that color has served me very well.

I have not used the Lindy slick jigs too much yet as I have a hard time removing the Rattlin Flyer off my line.

Kind of wierd but the eyes bit well while it snowed and when it quit, so did the eyes. Caught a limit of eyes from 14-19. Threw back 3 others and lost 2 in the hole.

Kept 3 for a couple nice meals.

My lure of choice was the same as always, a red glo Lindy Rattlin Flyer tipped with a minner.

Deadstick also iced a few with a #4 red glo demon with a whole minner.

    All in 5fow.
