First save all of you wpts and overlays to an sd card.
Turn off the unit. Hold down th zin and zout keys. power up
the unit, don’t release the keys until you see a map
of the USA. That is a “hard reset” and will set the unit back to factory specs. Now you can reload your wpts and
overlays from the sd card.

not sure if I am following you but if you have auto zoom
checked it will automatically zoom out to show your location and your destination, if you are navigating to
a way point.

The LCX16ci was produced in 2001-2002.
An excellent unit, even by todays standards.
