Tight lines!!
Has anyone ever tried using braided line with a mono leader, to get deeper with lighter jigs? What is the typical line size most are using?
I would be intrested in getting maps for my GPS/Sounder 185 is you could help. I am looking for WI and MN.
Thanks.
Sorry fellas about the wait with the Rods. I am on the Pro Staff for Fig Rig rods and I can not tell you how sorry I am to hear you had to wait so long for your rods. A little info on why the wait is do to trying to supply Gander Mtn. with there rods got us back ordered. To my knowledge this should not be an issue anymore.
Thank you so much for being patient with us.

It was Nov 1st 2003, one year to the day. My hunting buddy and brother in-law passed away. I convinced my wife to let me hunt the morning of black powder. My stand is only accessible by canoe so I left at 2:00am to arrive around 3:00am. I unloaded my canoe from the top of my jeep and loaded my gear. I began what I did not know would be a hunt of a life time. I proceeded across the pond (to be startled by a very angry beaver slapping is tail on the water)to the creek I had to travel up approx. 1/4 mile. I arrived at my stand area about 4:00am. I then unloaded my climbing stand and 50 cal CVA. I was able to get into my stand and situated before sunrise. Shortly after sunrise I heard a deer cross the creek up river from me but was unable to catch a glimpse of it. Around 8:15 I then heard a deer walking behind me but once again with such thick cover I was unable to see it. At 8:45 I decided to turn around in my stand to check things out. This is when I got the superise of my life as the big 9 pointer was standing 40 yards broad side quartered away looking in the opposite direction. It was a picture perfect shot. I raised my gun , put the bead on its front shoulder and squeezed the trigger. Down he went, he did not move 10 feet. But now the work had just began. I had to load the 180+ lb deer, me (250lb) and all my gear in a 12 foot canoe. Yup your right I did not think this hunt through all the way. Well here I am Deer, me and gear canoeing down stream with the water slowly coming over the sides. I thought I was going down like the titanic. As I rounded the bend of the creek into the pond I had on of my fellow hunters standing at my jeep to greet me with laughter as I was sinking fast. I did make it to the jeep with out going down but let me tell you I was worried there for awhile. The buck now hangs on my wall with a dedication plaque beneath it in memory of my passed hunting buddy. I never got the deer officially scored. But no matter if I shoot a bigger one in my years to come. THIS BUCK WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST TROPHY!
I forgot to mention, this buck was taken out of VA.

I made it out on Thursday with my Dad and son. We got out on the water at 7:45am. To start the day my son lost one of my good poles over the side of the boat. The bite was slow in the morning and got better as the day went by. The bite really took off around 3:30pm. And as luck would have it a boat pulled up next to us and caught a 19-20 inch sauger, the man in the boat asked if we had lost a blade bait. Soon to find out the blade bait was connected to the end of the pole my son lost hours before. Thanks to the kind gentalmen my 4 year old son went home happier then ever. He got my pole back and his first sauger ever caught. I would like to say thank you to that man not only for getting my pole back but also being kind enough to give the fish to my son. He has not stopped talking about it yet. As for the day we limited out twice over, with the biggest being a 4lb sauger. Most of all went back except a few eaters.
Steve thanks for the info about three ways and sonars. I am sorry I did not get a chance to stop by and talk with you. We did go out Saturday and managed to boat 14 walleye’s with the biggest being 4lbs. Lost one next to the boat that was in the 5 to 6 lb range. Anyway we put most of them back besides three smaller ones for my wife. She would have killed me if I did not bring any home. Thanks again.
I am new to area and was thinking of going out Saturday to try and catch some walleyes. If anyone would be kind enough to give me some pointers on places to start would be greatly appreciated. I am new to walleye fishing and only know the basics, Thanks to my brother taking me to Leech lake for some spring time walleyes! I am hooked and wanting to learn more. Thanks in advance for any input.
