Hi Mike,
I’m sure your thanking Bob Auel for his contribution and not me. But just in case I don’t want to think I didn’t see and appreciate your comment. This is one to keep our eye on. But like Brian and I were discussing this morning…We’re really not to sure of all the facts yet. Let’s just hope the FACTS are discovered…and brought to the public.
My post was a commentary on the fact we should keep our eye on the ball, in this case the money ball. If anyone thinks for a minute that there will be NO REPERCUSSIONS as a result of Racinos due to a new stadium, then we have NO IDEA how bad the natives wish to retain their monopoly on gaming in this state, not to mention using our natural resources as a pawn. Not looking for argument, that’s why I seldom post. But this is a very important one to stay focused on. If it’s a rouge just being a rouge, then the tribe will settle it and it’s done, if it’s the start of something else we need it on our radar. Just a commentary….
I generally don’t get involved but when Brett posted this to my Facebook page I found myself more than concern…
Just food for thought: Although we have been hearing a great deal in regards to a new football stadium in the recent months, it’s been going on in the state house for a VERY LONG time. Now, there is serious talk of measures to help insure the stadium be built in the toughest economic times most of us have seen in a long time. That said, is this SLAUGHTER part of a bigger picture? Are we reloading issues of the past 15 years concerning native tribal rights to have gaming (where no white man can) at putting at risk even more harm to our resources as a result. The problem today is we don’t have legislators today for the most part that even care about our natural resources. They (for the most part) don’t gain any political clout by endorsing for instance sport fishing, they would rather garner the attention they receive by protecting a minorities interest, in this case some natives. There is a LOT more here than just some dead fish. AND, I WILL TELL YOU, IF YOU KNOW ME I DON’T APPRECIATE DEAD ANYTHING, MUCH LESS FISH. I’m not afraid to speak my mind and at times maybe I shouldn’t but is this case who can hold back?
I want to commend WCCO for at least starting to cover this issue. When and if it comes full circle and the rights of the natives are discussed in terms of a new stadium, I hope their still onboard.
Years ago I had three camera crews on sight at the Deer Lake massacre when natives with harpoons, boats and headlamps speared the crap out of Deer Lake, we took the footage to the local networks (broadcast footage, shot on broadcast cameras) and NOT one second of it ever aired on those networks. Looking back, I soon realized how much advertising was committed to those same networks in the form of casino advertising. Follow the money…
Please forgive me for this rant and rave but I, like many others have had enough. We need a stadium for a team, we need our natural resources for the tax paying, license buying sportsman and an end to the modern day injustice thrust upon all of us by a few select, that we elect.
Sorry again… have a great day, a MERRY CHRISTMAS and pick up your phones and thank WCCO.
