Its a tough choice, but I put ultra deck on mine, going on 5 years and no issues.
September 6, 2021 at 2:59 pm #2058965I have the same issue but what I have found is that the electronic eyes are blinded by the sun. My house faces south, so the eyes are aligned east-west. When the sun is low and at just the right angle, it can blind one of the eyes, thus the garage door won’t shut because the “beam” has been broken. My only fix has been to place an object to cast a shadow over the blinded eye.

Mine even dance to music.Attachments:
March 8, 2021 at 3:18 pm #2020566Wife and I did this trip many years ago (skipped Door county). Pictured Rocks is worth the trip, give it half day or more. We did the boat tour (it was a bit chilly on the top deck). You can probably do the Soo Locks and Whitefish (Fitz) in a single day. Tahquemon park (not sure I spelled that right) is kind of neat too if you like hiking. Mackinac is a day trip. Load up on fudge then rent bikes and tour the whole island. We also hit the casino in the evening. Though not a packer fan, we also did a stadium tour of Lambeau (before the reno) and the shop next door. Have fun!
July 8, 2020 at 12:46 pm #1955658Though I’ve never stayed at Melgeorge’s, I’ve dined there and fished a few lakes in the area including Elephant. I’d second Suzuki’s recommendation of the bar/restaurant, it is very good. I mainly bass fish and Elephant is full of smallies. The lake does get some pressure but the fishing was good.
June 17, 2019 at 1:26 pm #1862641On behalf of those who still enjoy the hobby, please take your 80’s and 90’s cards and enjoy a nice bonfire.
October 15, 2018 at 11:11 pm #1803980I had a 2004 Lund Explorer re-carpeted by Georges a couple years back. The carpet was tore up on most horizontal surfaces and the floor and transom had some rot. Cost $6k for the whole job, but compared to the price of new boats I thought this seemed OK. Their first quote was higher, I negotiated that price down a bit.
September 14, 2017 at 1:12 pm #1715226Thats a bit of a boat ride from Rice to Koronis. Are you launching in Rice? I hear the channel is shallow and weed choked now, so good luck getting through. If you make it to Koronis I’ve done well fishing the islands and the NW side of the lake. Make sure to decon your boat afterwards. I here that stonewort is worse than eurasian milfoil.
August 8, 2017 at 11:52 am #1708990The rumor is true. I was at the Motor clinic recently and was told Minn Kota no longer supports the foot pedals for the older, flat end style. The guy told me I better hang on to mine as parts are hard to come by.
May 16, 2017 at 12:43 pm #1694379I had the transom/floor on my 2004 Lund redone by George’s last spring. I’ll check the bill when I get home but I think it was $2500 for the transom. Was told they replace the wood with treated lumber that is supposed to last 50 years.
April 15, 2016 at 3:40 pm #1613734+1 for the Duracell batteries at Batteries +. I’ve been using these for 3+ years with no issues.
December 23, 2015 at 11:23 am #1586780Try to reorder how the leads are connected to the battery. This has worked for me, but I can’t remember what the proper order is right now. If the locator is stacked on top of the outboard battery, restack the leads and put the locator lead on the battery first. I’ve been told the draw from the outboard upon starting will cutoff the locator as it exceeds the draw of the locator.
December 1, 2015 at 12:20 pm #1581083This has been a great resource for me over the years: UtterAccess.com
If you go the Access route one thing to consider is how much data you have. Depending on your version of Access, there are file limitations. For instance, the max size for a single DB in Access 2007 is 2GB, but there are ways around this. Good luck with your project.
September 2, 2015 at 11:41 pm #1563672I’ve gone through the exact issue and tried both options 1 & 2. Mine broke down on a fishing trip and I was fortunate to find an Air Force mechanic in the middle of nowhere (Cloquet) who welded on a new spindle. However, I still managed to wear out another bearing and ended up replacing the axle. In the cities I called around and the cost to replace a spindle was as much as getting a new axle. I called the trailer manufacturer and had a new axle at my door in a couple days, complete with new hubs & bearings packed and ready to go. Like iowaboy said, don’t try to drive on a worn spindle but do replace the springs, bolts, etc. if needed. Replacing the axle is not a difficult job (first time for me), and I was able to do myself.
July 8, 2015 at 11:21 am #1553718I was up there about 6 years ago and caught more walleyes than I ever have (but that’s mainly because I fish bass). There were a couple days we boated 70+ walleye, but the biggest walleyes were only 25″. If the wind starts blowing there are plenty of islands that will provide some relief.
We stayed at a resort in Cushing lake, which is connected via channel to Lac de Mille Lacs. As a prior poster pointed out, the lake has plenty of pike and a few smallies if you get bored with walleye.June 9, 2015 at 10:14 am #1549279I fished a tournament there on the 31st and noticed quite a few floaters, not thousands, but enough for a few folks to comment at the weigh-in. Many looked like they were swimming in a lazy, haphazard manner. I’ve seen this a few times on various lakes this time of year, but never heard of a big die-off before.
June 8, 2015 at 1:57 pm #1549101Are you willing to split this? I’m interested in the reel, but don’t really care for St Croix rods.
July 23, 2014 at 1:40 pm #1441703Lake has been high all year, only recently started to get back to normal.
Buddy tells me the weeds are as thick as ever. For fishing, areas around the islands have been productive for me, especially for smallies & pike. Good luck.June 13, 2014 at 10:36 pm #14157074/0 & 5/0 Trokar hooks with a 5″ stick bait. The bass tend to inhale the smaller hooks and I’ve found using a larger hook reduces the number of fish that are deep hooked. I’ll go as high as an 8/0 when throwing 6″-12″ worms. Gammy’s are ok, but I use braid and broke the light wire hooks. The Gammy EWG Superline hooks are good too.
April 23, 2014 at 3:13 pm #1405774I do the same with my Lowrance unit up front. The HDS8 is a pretty good sized unit, so if you go with a RAM mount use at least a 1.5″ ball. A 2.25″ ball might work best to hold the unit in place.
April 13, 2014 at 10:14 pm #1378957I fished it in the summer. Gogebic is a dammed up reservoir. They planted cribs all around the lake, and the local places have a map available showing where to find the cribs. Find the cribs, you find the walleyes. I bass fish, so if I can catch walleyes on this lake, pretty sure anyone can.
I trolled just outside of the crib locations. Most of what I caught were in the slot, but I did see others pulling in decent eyes. One thing about that lake, is it gets very little pressure in the summer. I darn near had the lake to myself. The local warden was so bored, he stopped me twice within hours – but only because he forgot he had already checked me the first time.April 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm #1403236Quote:

2. Floor boards – got a few soft spots. One under the passenger seat base and one by my front live well. Not sure if I should be contacting crestliner but wondering if anyone knows what it would cost to get it fixed at all or a place that would do it in the cities?
Maybe my issue is not as big a job as yours, but I just got a quote to replace the carpeting on my front and back decks. $2500 without replacing any wood
April 8, 2014 at 5:36 pm #1402745You’ll need the network cable. If I remember correctly, it is a 25-ft Y adapter cable with a terminating end. I have 2 units networked via this cable (called a soft-T), but you still need the cable for 1 unit. This link might help explain it better:
http://www.lowrance.com/en-US/Products/Fishfinder-Chartplotter/LMS-332C.aspxIf you need the cable, I might have one laying around.
