OK, here is an update! I called Navico thanks to Iowaboy1.

The answer I got was 2001-02 were some units made with certain code in the processor. Same for Unit made 2003-04. No matter what I do they will not read theses 3 files to update or start auto update to the 3.7 version.
Both units I have must be in those years. These units will only update to 3.6 version. That’s it!

If it doesn’t say “We Lead We Find” when starting unit your screwed on updating to 3.7 version. GREAT!!

Well at least I got an answer, not the one I was looking for!!

Thanks everyone for helping out. I hope this post can help someone else out if they are trying to do the same thing I was.

It doesn’t sound good. I bought an 8mb SD card to try. Have been to busy at work to do so thus far.

    Thanks Pete

I sure did that. A FAT format. Going to try a “new” 8mb chip shortly. Been working so much lately.
    Thanks jd318

When I try to do that Cap’Musky, a box comes up and asks if I wants to copy or delete file?

I’ve tied everything you said to try; nothing! I just don’t think these unit are going to ever be able to update to 3.7

    Randy-
I think the 512mb SD card I bought first was a SanDisk? Will check on that. Did you use a 512mb card, Randy?

    Cap’Musky-
There’s no way to force start the update in the GPS Menu. I can go find the file in “Browse MMC Files”, but can only copy or delete.

    Dan-
When I get my boat back from the motor getting serviced, I will try the soft reset. How does one know about the FAT 32 format? Do you need to format the card first on the unit; which I’ve tried to no avail? I did this to my 512mb SD card then copied files. Nothing happened.

    Dan-

Got all 3 files on chip. Brand new chips just bought. Even went back deleted files and re-copied to SD and MMC cards.

UHHGG!!! Pulling my hair out on this one!

If one file is an automatic start-up file (LDR file), why doesn’t it load?

    Calvin-

Yes, tried both slots on both units. Ok will try that when I get boat back. Just took in today to get motor serviced.

    Good idea!

Keep’em coming, I’ve beat my head against a wall on this one.

    Thanks

    Bemidji.

No, SD cards are not “Locked”. MMCs don’t have a lock.

    Francis K-
Going from Version 3.6 to 3.7 has Updates in the GPS end of unit. Unit runs faster with update. I’ve had a unit since 2006 and update then. Just purchased these two recently. One for the bow and one for back-up.

Plus, I want to run the second to last version ever made by Lakemaster for these LCX units before Hummingbird bought Lakemaster.
What I didn’t realize was the other owners never updated their units before buying them. Even so, I didn’t think it would be such a pain in the a$$ updating that its been.

Had no issues 9 years ago updating. Only I borrowed someones chip. Put it in unit when off, started up and it started updating on it own, no problem!

Yes, I am aware of zipped files. I unzipped them and copied to the cards.

Units are discontinued. Lowrance will not help you with issues on these units any longer.

If I could call and have Lowrance walk me thru…I would have done that already.

    I stand corrected Timmy.

AIS Watercraft Inspectors have these rights….

    https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=84D.105

Ok Bruce the description of the authority of an inspector is so vague, by design I suspect, where does it say an inspector can enter private property? If he/she wants to view the live well they can do it from the ground. If the inspector wants to call a co that’s fine because I would have fullfilled my obligation for the inspector in my interpratation of the rules. If your interpratation differs from mine that’s ok by me.

Inspectors are not allowed into a boat; but are allowed to ask to you open the baitwells or livewells for inspection.

What I mean by calling the CO’s is if a boater completely ignores to go through the inspection process, either entering or exiting a body of water, a Watercraft Inspector is then to call state dispatcher for the CO’s.

They are asking for DNR data. Data thats all Public knowledge. Tell them you are not interested in talking survey. It’s not required. But inspection entering a body of water or exiting when Watercraft Inspectors are on duty is not up for debate; it is LAW.

Inspectors can look in livewells and baitwells. If you do not cooperate it is up to the discretion of the inspector to call a CO.

It is what it is… Deal with it. Remember fishing is like driving, its a privilege not a right.

This has been one of the best spring and early summer fishing I’ve seen. I think the cool water temps have kept fish fairly shallow and active.

But things, they are a changin’!

Lately while fishing the shrimpos I make sure the tail is horizontal as to vertical. After a few bites the fish will pull the tail down and it needs to be moved up again.

Have only had luck on crappies with the shrimpos so far. Sunies seem to look the other way or just nip the tail.

    Blugills prefer a horizontal presentation(Ratso).

Crappies feed up and the (Shrimpo) fits the bill.
