    Thanks for your thoughts. There’s no doubt that participants are more appreciative of higher percent payout tournaments. However, we hope anglers will see the benefits of putting a small percentage of each entry toward a no-entry fee championship. In addition, the championship has a $1,000 guaranteed first place prize. Simple math brings the overall payout to near 90%.

    Drop me your mailing address if you’d like an entry. We’d also like to hear any additional ideas you may have to increase participation.

    Eric, you would have been boat number 10. Are you planning to fish the next event?

    The next tourney is Sunday, May 23 out of Fountain City (Pools 5, 5a and 6 are open to fishing). Of the $125 entry, $90 goes to placing payout and $10 goes to the year-end championship. 20% goes to the youth foundation.

    Sign up at the ramp is available. However, we encourage early sign up to avoid an additional $20 tournament day at the ramp fee.

    As mentioned above, all pools are open. This includes Lake Onalaska and Pool 7. Anglers can also double lock down to Pool 8 or double lock up to Pool 5.

    The entries were mailed out 12 days ago . . . nobody in yet. Anyone curious about boat numbers can contact me during the week before the tournament. I’ll have a much better idea at that time.

    One or two people per boat. One person must be at least 18. If fishing alone, must be at least 18.

    We’ll have our schedule out by the end of the month. Last year we had 2 open tournaments, along with a series of 5 tournaments that ended with a championship. The tournaments were mostly Pools 4, 5, 5a and 6. Entry fees were $150 or $160.

    For the upcoming season, we are considering various options. With an eye on the economy and the related anxiety, we want to make sure people participate as much as possible, but we don’t want to offer something that’s out of line (not affordable, wrong format, etc.).
