Typical carrier or Best Buy will charge you 9.99/month for insurance/protection.

Add that over 2 years plus you are in for $240 for “insurance”

If you have to buy a new smartphone without a contract at full cost, you are talking about $600 (give or take $100).

Say you drop your phone at month 14 and have to replace it. You are in for $140 in premiums and $100 in deductible, so $240 gets you a working phone again versus $600.

Keep in mind, that any functional failure in year 1 is still covered by the manufacturer, so you are basically paying to cover the risk that you will physically damage your phone to the point it won’t function.

That is why I have coverage on my wife’s phone and not mine. I trust me

Based on the fingers up in the gills and the expected mortality, I would say no, they are different fish.

So it was a “mistake”… ? And not knowing the rules of the tourney you are fishing with hundreds of others, vying for a HUGE purse, is also a “mistake” ? I have enough “life experiences” also, to know when someone cheated… did he accept his “punishment” with grace, yes. Did he cheat, yes or he would have been holding a BIG check smiling all the way to the bank. Again, I did not tarnish him, he did that by himself, not knowing the rules of the tourney he was fishing. Who said I have never made a mistake ?(show me where I said that) I sure as hell did not “cheat” in any tourneys… you now sound like Paula Dean Pug, “pick up that stone and hurl it at my head and kill me”… You can’t win this one guys…. are you telling me BASSMASTERS got it wrong ?

Are you 7 years old or do you have some form of a learning disability?

I feel sorry for packer fans who start making excuses, why they are gonna lose sunday…. like if they lose, you have ammo for Viking fans ???? OMG, I hate to tell you this, but you may not want to log into IDO for a few weeks, after the loss. I will not feel 1 bit sorry for you.. you get what you have coming. I along with others I have spoken too, have TONS of posts, from the likes of you, that will be “hitting the top” so to speak, to remind you of your gloried past

    A Vikings fan 1st,

& whoever is beating the pack at the time 2nd

BTW, I wanted to have Pooh bear as my avatar.. but it was already taken…

Do you have a learning disability or something? I’m being honest. I’m not trying to be rude, but I don’t want to make any additional comments if you really have something wrong that is genetic or picked up working at a power plant or something?

“Riding around with them in a livewell at 80 degrees kills a few.” = WASTE

“A fillet knife kills them all.” = DINNER (no waste)

There were approximately 750 fish brought in for this tournament with about 25 found dead. These 25 found, if not taken by the DNR would go back into the ecosystem and serve as food and nutrients for a variety of lifeforms.

So lets say you catch your limit of bass and clean them to eat. What percent of the edible portion of the fish do you actually fillet out. I’ll be generous and say 80%. So, now we can say that for every 5 fish caught and filleted, 1 is wasted. If, then 750 fish are caught and filleted for food (“not wasted”), then we would expect that 150 of those fish are “wasted” since we did not obtain 100% of the edible portion of the fish.

So we now have 150 “wasted” by the perch-jerker and 25 “wasted” by the evil bass tournament

N Fork Flambeau River. 9 miles east of Fifield on Hwy 70. 170 miles from Hudson. some of the best smallie fishing you will ever enjoy. heading up there tomorrow. leaving sunday.
we will easily catch 20 to 30 smallmouth a day. good muskie river too.

    Thanks Steve…

I decided on the St Croix up by Danbury for this Friday. But, I will have to check that out.

Do you know of any canoe rentals/shuttles up there, or do you just bring your own and do it all yourself?

Rod #1 – topwater – Sammy or a spitter bait
Rod #2 – Exposed hook 3/16 oz. tube in black/red flake
Rod #3 – Zoom super fluke, nose hooked with a 1/0 offset
Rod #4 – Spider Grub/Mini Sweet Beaver on a 1/4 oz jig head of your choice

Start with topwater in the morning and concentrate on sand to gravel transitions out there. I typically do better on this stuff than I do on the bigger chunk rock. If the sun gets high and hot, back off into the 6-10 ft of water and slow down with the tube or grub

    dumbest rule ever…

lets have walleye and white bass open, but not smallmouth. I want to go out this weekend with a ringworm and hair jig and fish wallyeye, white bass and crappies….what do you suppose I will catch???

The frickin river has about 20,000,000 smallmouth and is in no danger of being over harvested. Frankly, it needs some harvesting to take some out of the system. DNR needs to pull their head out of their rectum on this one

sorry, that is my annual rant

    Mono for Topwater

    Braid for heavy weeds

    Flouro for about everything else.

Agree with these, except I use Mono for C-Rigging as well

Mono – Typically 10-15 lb Maxima
    Braid – Power Pro 30-50lb
Flouro – Seagur Inviz-X 6-8lb on spinning gear and 12 or 15 lb on baitcasters.

    good info guys. Thanks

Hopefully we get some rain up north this spring to help a little. I always fish Upper Turtle Lake everytime I go see my grandparents and it has gotten harder and harder to launch a boat the last 3 years…

Its kind of funny because Toyota owners want to defend them and the “buy U.S.” crowd wants to seize the opportunity to get a share of Toyota.

Somehow, in America we are all quick to defend what we personally use and get so defensive if someone doesn’t agree with us. Start a thread on the best boat, fishing reel, fishing rod, etc… and the same comments would come up.

Back to topic. I have owned a toyota car for over 4 years now and it has over 80k miles. I have never had a problem with it and have been extremely satisfied. I also own a 99 Sierra that I have had since college in 2003. Besides replacing two hoses this year, it has 150K plus miles and still running great, despite some rusting.

I will admit that the recent news is starting to deter me a little from Toyota, but Im not sure if its enough to sway me from looking at a Tundra, Sierra or F150 in the next year or 2.

All these companies have gone through these problems like mentioned above, and I think Toyota will come out of it in time and continue to make quality vehicles.

I switched from St Croixs to Powells last year. (not a dis to St Croix, cause they are obviously awesome rods) However I prefer the Powells because they are extremely light weight and balanced perfectly. Due to them being a CA company they are, as you have found out, not known about up here too well compared to St Croix.

Like said above, they are a bass series or rods, but Im sure the spinning rods can be adapted to your walleye needs, unless you don’t want an extra fast action.

Lifetime warranty on all rods is a plus, although I have yet to have to use it. And my customer service experience has always been great.

Only negative is that the blanks are crafted overseas which is an important factor to some folks.

Bomber..if I could I would change the name to Catfisherman…if it would make you feel better.

Personally, I didn’t see a Bass, Walleye or any kind of fisherman… Just a person going too fast for the conditions.

    Take a deep breath…it’s ok.

I think the style of boat kind of implies bass guy and I think after 5 years on this site we all know the stigmas and I would think you would know what I was getting at. You know the whole, one rotten egg makes everyone look bad syndrome that goes on.

By most people’s standards I could assume that all Turkey hunter’s are drunk, high and shoot their own kids, ya dig?

We (Bass Fishermen) don’t need idiots like this polluting the minds of people and sending the message that every bass boat drives like this or trys to pull off stupid stunts.

I have NEVER been in any situation remotely close to this. I feel a lot safer in a bass boat going 70 mph then I do in my car in the morning trying to merge around idiots on I94.

So to summarize, you can call anyone an idiot or stupid as long as they are not a moderator or site sponsor.

Glad you guys are ok and a big thumbs up to the guys how rescued you. I hope you guys continue to tell this story, espceially to young kids and new boaters to help reinterate the importance of life jackets.
