This is not a Cray site, most of Cray(the company) has been split up, so the leagues are loosely based on (ex-)Cray employees( none of our club does anymore).
Not sure why the IP address didn’t work, but here is the URL:

Rules and info are posted here, dates should be soon.
This ‘league’ is every other Wed, $25.00 for the year, fish townships-not individual lakes.
Ten contest per year, every other Wed with exceptions for dates near holidays.
Honor systems based on points, fish all day if you wish. Depending on the number of members, payout can be up to $20.00 for 1st,$15.00 2nd, $10 for 3rd. Very non-competative, excuse to fish a varienty of lakes in the area. We will be getting together at Eagles Club in Hallie at 5:00PM in April. I’ll have to confirm the date (maybe Wednesday the 6th).
There was probably a dozen leagues out of Cray in years past. If you want to join a league, you can try here:

This site may not be active this year, as the owner may be fishing this round.
Minimal rules, excuse to get out.
You must have a permit.
The biggest issue is not inhibiting navigation in low water conditions, natural materials and construction methods. You can pick up a permit from the DNR office off Clairemont. If you belong to a lake association or sporting organization it’s reasonably easy to get a permit, although rules have tightened (no more tire cribs like those in Wissota allowed – garbage in lake). Joe Kurz at Chippewa DNR office would be an exellent source of info, Dan Koitch in Eau Claire WAS previously the gatekeeper for such permits, but roles have changed over the years so you’ll have to verify. The DNR promotes fish habitat improvement on lakes where it is required due to lack of natural habitat. It’s a big task to take on by yourself, having been involved with several projects myself.
What’s the fishing like at Trempealeau?
Have fished Genoa, Alma and Redwing, but bypass Trempealeau for no good reason other than I haven’t went there with someone who has.
I would guess same techniques would work, but what about boat landing access, bait, safe boating etc.
Stumped!
Some observations from two weeks ago on Pool 4 at Redwing.
Many boats on the river, I think a tourny was being held but not relavant. I saw small boats(flat bottom) which seemed overloaded being within a few inches of water entering boat. Below the Y, boats were lined up across the whole channel preventing ANY traffic from going through without coming to a complete no wake and weaving through the boats. Rules being violated? You be the judge.
I fish Lake Hallie in Eau Claire which was changed to SlowNoWake after canoists complained of boat wakes nearly swamping them. Should I care? See rules below.
If you feel someone is violating the law, utilize the numbers on the boats and report them.
The tournies or big boats are not creating all the problems-just the people. There is limited open water fishing opportunies at this time of the year when everyone wants to get out. The upper Chippewa River was closed to year-round fishing a few years ago. I would stay local even if it was catch and release thru May.
BTW, WE Warrior if your wondering.
Boating Regulations.
It is unlawful:
-To operate or use any boat, or manipulate any water skis, aquaplane or similar device in a careless, negligent, or reckless manner so as to endanger his or her life, property or the life, property or person of another.
-To operate any boat beyond the safe carrying capacity of passengers or cargo or to equip a boat with propulsion in excess of its safe power capacity, taking into consideration existing operating conditions.
Interestingly, some of my worst experiences have been at the boat landings, one in particular that still eats at me today how someone could be such an a_ _. His offspring will obviously extend the poor sportsmanship attitude that punishes the rest of us.
Doesn’t sound like any of the fish I seen caught today. Most boats trying to avoid the wind, soaking in the hazy sun enjoying the day. Small fish being caught with just a few around legal and a 10 lb. cat. Warden at landing said a few nice saugers came out, otherwise the people he checked with had connected only with last years offspring. We tried stingers too with limited success. Many more fish showing up on the electronics this weekend compared to last (good?) Friday. Public landing (MN side about a mile downstream from Everts) was not spilling over but seemed to be almost as many boats on the water-maybe others opened up? Warmer next week, more fish, more boats!! Should be better.
On the water at 10:30 am Friday after a two boat wait at public landing-trucks parked back to the overflow area. Some coming, some going. Fished 7 – 20 ft areas along the edges below the dam with jig and minnow. Lost what felt like a walleye, maybe 4 pounds, due to line break(6 lb) trying to keep it away from the timber. That got the blood flowing again in the spring. Few other bites and a nice crappie on a floating jig in 20 feet. Too nice out to work hard for a fish, just relaxed for the most part as still shaking the bugs out of brothers ‘new to him’ boat. Seen a few small fish caught along with one carp. Most were taken in the faster water near center of the stream. We lost a lot of minnows but didn’t appear to be fish, but then again, didn’t resort to stingers either, but who knows, probably was little ones. Off about 3:30 to avoid a landing rush if rain came. Everyone else appeared to have the same idea with 10+ boats waiting, so we took the high bank launch out with no wait-stay to the north of ramp, downstream side broken off. Second trip this year with similiar results-good time.
