June 3, 2012 at 2:10 pm #1073207Phigs, no need to hunt for the spot i can just tell you where it is, Dr flathead knows this one too, and its really two spots on a spot if your fishing it right. Hasnt ever ended in personal best for me but good fish for sure… Pm me if your into some sunken ships…
June 1, 2012 at 4:44 pm #1072882I apparently fish different nights than you cause i have fished the heck outta that spot, haha cool down, i am just saying. No pics here except for my avatar, ill remain anonymous. I am not trying to prove that i can catch fish. im just able to pick out most spots in pictures, i tend to spend alot of time on the river and recognize most of it when pics pop up on the web. Have fun, good luck.
June 1, 2012 at 2:48 am #1072768Great way to show off that spot over a small flathead. pictures taken as far as 180 degrees to the right and it wouldn’t be noticeable.
May 30, 2012 at 9:24 pm #1072350Chris, can we launch anyplace we want? Everets? I dont know too much about overnight parking down there, and if its anything like up here i dont want a ticket on my windshield!

I was think the same, god we’re pervsMay 28, 2012 at 1:27 am #1071691idk wing dams are not where i am finding fish now its more about shore line structure right now, and with the water getting higher id try entrances to backwater areas and current breaks for eyes, if you are set on wing dams try where they meet shore, closer to shore than you think. good luck
May 22, 2012 at 8:26 pm #1070223They are very beneficial especially to our vulnerable 4l60e’s.
That being said only if you tow with the truck or drive under extreme conditions, the bigger the cooler the better the stock one is not doing a whole lot of good it is very small. I would only buy one with thermostatically controlled bypass valve in the north country if the truck sees winter use, without it the trans will not get the opportunity to get up to a good operating temp.May 22, 2012 at 8:22 pm #1070222Chris How many spots are left open at this point? If i can find someone to co-fish it i will.
May 22, 2012 at 7:52 pm #1070205I had been fishing the Gama Big River hooks and really liked them for large size bullheads, But at two dollars a piece they were a pita to loose in snags. I recently visited 4seasons in Red Wing and had Chris show me the TC super J’s little bit better hook, WAY WAY better price. Iirc they had them at about a buck a piece. Pretty good deal.
May 19, 2012 at 10:36 pm #1069379The cotton seeds are gone, water is down to where it was this spring before the rain, and the clarity is two inches get used to it, the fish certainty don’t care.
May 19, 2012 at 5:03 pm #1069356I didn’t know that the action was slow a week ago the fish have been very cooperative since the beginning of April, big ones too yesterdays biggest was 30.5 inches and tipped the scales at 10lbs 1 oz fishing wing dams and shore line structure. Good luck
May 14, 2012 at 4:30 pm #1068053Id have to say for a newbie i would stick to FRESH cut suckers hack them into pieces about the size of your thumb. Dont bury the hook catfish are not hook shy, but hook it into the skin of the fillet so it doesn’t go flinging off on the cast. The fish are also not boat shy so long cast are unnecessary with the water level high and current ripping good the more line you have out the more stuff will come into your lines path. The boat sway will become an issue with longer set lines and will hang up on under water debris easier, Hence the shorter cast. Fresh fillets should be re baited every 20 minutes, dont throw the old stuff you just unhooked back into the water and waste it set it aside because if you get into a school of channels and are going thru bait you can reuse the previously soaked pieces. Look for slack water areas adjacent to the fast main channel areas, maybe someplace with access to a back water. Good luck.
May 12, 2012 at 8:11 pm #1067779I was very surprised to see the same on pool 2 last night, High water and not a single piece of floating wood to swerve around. Clarity is as muddy as it gets up this way too, get used to it untill the MN river slows to a trickle around christmas
.May 10, 2012 at 3:14 am #1067144Very dangerous on p2 might as well stay away 100 foot tall trees in the water everywhere plus some kid at the SSP launch told me that the walleyes quit biting now..
October 23, 2011 at 6:07 pm #1003466haha i was there when this kid caught the fish, you can see my boat 60 feet away in the photo.
July 12, 2011 at 2:17 am #979933wow looks like there is no pic of that 32″+ who would have guessed it…
June 29, 2011 at 2:28 am #976984no need for the floro leader for trolling cranks on p2, just use PP mainline right down to your crank, it will not hinder your results in the least, and you will be able to retrieve your bait from snags easier.
June 23, 2011 at 2:17 am #975483Any mid to large size Flatty should put one heck of a bend in that wild cat rod, should be alot of fun, my buddy who frequents the red river of the north catches a whole lot of huge channels on his and its held up great.
