I agree with what has been said about the decision making conservation officers job much harder, but what I question is does this also cover the random stops/checks for safety equipment? This could very easily snow ball into a situation of making there positions as law enforcement officers nearly pointless and that should worry all law abiding sportsman! My opinion, they have a job to do and need to be able to do it.

If you get the chance try fishing at Redwing itself there is a section there that is all no wake with several back waters right close, or put in off from the dike road that crosses from Wabasha to WI (lots of back water areas).

What area (pool) are you looking to stay near? I know areas all up and down the river that would suite your needs.

There are numerous areas on Pepin to catch good limits of largemouth, from my experience; fish the same types of (structure) areas you would fish on any other smaller lake and disreguard the overall size of Pepin. Concentrate on your strongest personal skills! If you are mearly looking for areas; check out any of the boat harbors, any small pocket off the main lake or another area to explore is the Bay City area. Do yourself a favor!! Check the weather forcast prior to venturing out on the lake, it can get rough real fast.
