I was out 5/8 and found wallys in 4′ or less, on cranks. Fish were in slack water, nothing much came from typical seam edges. How about seeing minnows jump out of the water, pursued by a terror from below? Isn’t that a great sight? Sure enough, get that SR in there, bam, smallie.

The MN is still spewing trees.

I was out on Saturday too. 4 walleyes, 4 smallies including a pool 2 PB 19.25″, a couple northerns, and a few sheepies. Firetiger was working. Still a few tuna boats out.

I fished the confluence & up yesterday afternoon. The only fish I landed was a snagged carp below the island at the dam. Water temp was 43. Water is pretty low and clear considering its spring.

I am impressed. Four kids in the boat, girls no less, and only one adult. Of course they got line in the prop and I am sure there were other mishaps. Well done.

I saw the Coast Guard buoy tender Wyaconda working on the navigation signs above the confluence yesterday so they’re in the area.

I’ve been out three times in the past 2 weeks and got 10-15 eyes total. White bass were way more active. Nothing over 20″ on the eyes and most were under 14″ so yes I agree they seem to be running small but the numbers have been o.k.

The Ft. Snelling state park office today would not even give an estimate on when the ramp in the park would be open. The park office number is (612) 725-2389. As of 4/5 the gate at the park entrance at the top of the hill was locked.

I only trolled 10% of the time. Nicest fish came from a trolled shad rap though.

I’ve had one of their big spinning sticks for ten years. I bought it for char & laker fishing in Canada. It is a fantastic rod, better than the Fenwick I later got as a back up. I broke the tip aboput three years after I bought it and sent in back to the factory, they charged me postage only to fix it.

I was out Saturday 6pm-9pm. There was a boat, maybe I should call it a ship, anchored at the confluence that must have been 50′ long. Plenty of other traffic too, including big wake cruisers. I just threw cranks to shoreline rocks and did some trolling, kind of a low effort outing. Landed 5 smallies, two smaller eyes, a 30″ pike, and a couple sheepies. This was all above the confluence.

Maybe they were, but they did not have the hook on the end of the bill that seems characteristic of a cormorant. The bill was straight, and sharp. Plumage was white and grey. I must have seen at least half a dozen without looking hard so maybe they are some migrating species instead of immature loons. They were definately diving and fishing. I watched one work at least a minute before he got the sunfish he caught turned the right way to eat.

Did pretty well today out of the wind (mostly) north of the confluence. Only landed one walleye but I also got crappies, sheepheads, a pike, a whitebass, and a dozen or so smallies. It was pretty dead until the sun hit the trees. I got most fish on a 3″ Kalin tail. It seems to me sheephead act like walleyes once they’re hooked. That six pound sheepie had me going. As I was driving away from the Ft. Snelling ramp two deer casually walked across the road and stopped in the ditch to browse. I pulled up next to them, no more than 20′ away, and they just kept eating. Picnickers must feed them for them to be so tame.

I was out Friday afternoon, got five in Brown’s Bay. Pretty slow where I was. In one spot I could see the fish– they ignored minnows and plastics but a couple hit a piece of pink Gulp on a jighead.

I tried the confluence, the dam, and points in between early this afternoon, no fish. All temperature readings were 37.0-37.3. Nice day though.

Rootski thanks for the report, I am starting to make my annual mental migration from thinking about Mille Lacs trolling all the time to thinking about P2 all the time.

The biggest bass I got to the boat was a couple pounds, another one threw the spoon on a jump that was 3-4 lbs.

I was out Friday afternoon. Got 7 in Tanager, biggest was 12.5″. When I got back to the dock there was a flyer under my windshield about the 600 foot rule, plus certain bays are completely no wake.

I was on P2 this afternoon. Went out of 494, hit the airport for a while but too windy plus no fish so upriver I went. Got a smallie and what I’ll call a nice 19″ saugeye in the confluence area. The saugeye tagged a jig and minnow in 16′. It was mostly colored like a walleye but had only a faint tail spot and a distinct sauger body shape. I haven’t been out for a while so maybe I just forgot how to tell them apart. Saw a fair number of guys out and some fish landed by vertical jiggers.

I’ll be there. Last I heard was easy wind out of the NNE.

Friday night was pretty slow for me. I was on Indian Point for a while but the wind, anchored boats, and slow bite pushed me back into the bay also. Biggest I got was a 25,”, 7 FOW, #5 shallow rap.

Tennessee Shad . . . my best bait last fall. I will definately be out there all the way to ice up, just like last year.

I found fish in Tanager Lake Wednesday and Friday. Got about 15 each day. Three were over 10″. All on a plain minnow under a bobber. Friday I looked in Maxwell and Stubbs but found no crappies, just bass and a norton.

The gas station on Old Shakopee Road 1 block east of Cedar (77) has bait.

I was on P2 Thursday afternoon, no fish caught or seen caught.

I ws on P2 yesterday afternoon for a short while. No fish at the airport. Maybe because someone was periodically blowing off very loud noisemakers at the end of the runway. Scaring away birds I guess. I found saugers in deep water in the Lilydale area though. From the water the Lilydale ramp looked to be in pretty good shape. I saw a boat working the mid river channel upstream from Lilydale pretty hard so maybe they were onto something there.
