I’d hate to say it, but those are some really impressive looking fish! Nice catches!

Thanks, and every one fights like hell to! You would not believe some of the runs these fish take, i had fished heavily for salmon for a good 5 years before I started exclusively carp fishing and let me tell you, a 25-30# salmon have nothing on these guys when it comes to pullin drag lol!

All gently released and waiting for you!

Nice job. That is really impressive for the US.

Thanks mate, the US and lake MI specifically has a such ridiculous untapped potential, and people from around the world are starting to take notice. My guess is that within the next ten years the US will be as popular as France or Spain for the traveling UK Carpers.

Very nice. Here is one I caught out of the river just south of St Paul yesterday. Photos dont really do it justice but Im sure it would of folded up my walleye net if hoisted in the boat wrong. The carp, buffalo and other rough fish are schooled up tight on the rivers up here now and all winter.

    Nice fish!

He’s way ahead of US shore fisherman. I believe it is just a plastic mat used to protect the fish. It also keeps the fish clean for photos. That’s my guess anyway, lets see what he says.

Spot on, thanks for the kind words mate.

Wow,congratulations! Can you explain “lumps and mirrors”

Ya no problem, A mirror Carp are the ones that you see in the photos with the irregular scale pattern, they just have a slightly different genetic make up that gives them this scale pattern. They are also very rare over most of the USA. “Lumps” is simply another term for big fish, I guess it may not be used much outside of the European carp community.

“Keeping” is a relatively broad term. If you are planning on keeping and eating the 30+lb carp that the landowner wants removed then more power to ya, but for some reason I feel that’s not the case Like I said in the PM, I promote C&R carp angling, but am not agenst keeping them if they are being put to use, and not put in the dumpster. If anyone wants any information at all feel free to shoot me a PM.

One of my favorite streams just opened up where I’ve caught carp in early season. I’ve never fished carp euro style, but think I might give it a try this year. I have some corn soaking and did a bit of studying on the hair rig technique. As soon as my truck gets out of the shop I might give it a try.

    Good Luck!

Wow, well done! What kinds of bait were you using if you don’t mind me asking?

We fish euro style, so hair riged boiled maiz was the bait of choice. we were also using a bread crumb based pack bait to go along with the maiz. If anyone needs specific information about euro carping or baits in general, shoot me a PM and I would be more than glad to help out.

Very nice fish! I fish carp a ton as well and they are a blast. Care to share your location? Not interested in any spots by any means. Just wondering if you’re in Minnesota or elsewhere? Seems to be quite a concentration of Mirrors wherever you are. Don’t usually see them in the mix in those numbers.

About 20 min outside of Detroit. In some spots i fish one in ten fish is a mirror. It is pretty awsome to be in an area with so many mirrors.

Very nice carp… People from other parts of the world (Europe and Japan) are envious of our great carp fishing over here.

Care to share presentation and techiques how you caught them?? I have never fished for them but I have heard they can be difficult to catch.

Im a little under-qualifide to talk on rigs and such other than use a hair rig, but if you look up carp anglers group on google and post your question over there you will have a boat load of information within a few hours.
