I will second Tom on the Legend Extreme XS70MLF 7′ ML Fast. That is a great rod for you and your dads style of fishing. Also look into the Legend Elite 7′ ML. These two rods will fish a lindy or slip bobber better than anything out there. I personally don’t prefer these particular rods for jigs, but for an all purpose rod they will throw a jig nicely as well, lots of backbone on those two rods. Put dads name on one of these to rods and there you go!

Interesting topic, and no, the sport is not leaving you behind. There are all different types of anglers out there and there is a rod and reel also out there that fits to their needs. Yes there are rods and reels out there that are expensive, but at the same time the option to buy a quality rod and reel for a smaller price is out there as well. Its not like you have to go out and buy that three hundred dollar rod or else you will catch no fish. That isn’t the case at all! In fact that twenty dollar rod will sometimes out fish that three hundred dollar rod. It all comes down to personal preferance. Every fishing rod is a good rod right? Cause it catches fish, and that is what we love to do. I am actually kinda glad that we have all the different price points because it meets the needs of every fisherman or fisherwoman. The only difference between the three hundred dollar rod and the twenty dollar rod is that the higher end rod allows you to feel the fish breathing on your jig

Wismitty, you hit the nail on the head. Comarderie is the winner here. I would rather pull a 7 lb fish out of the ice for my dad than a 10 lb fish fo myself! Although both would be nice. The bite is only about a third of what the trip is all about.

Well Steve here is what you need to do. Take a look at the arsenol that you carry right now. I know for a fact that in your arsenol you have a six foot one power GLX that rod is a champion for the vertical jigging presentation. You need to forget about buying another verticle jigging rod and buy both the 7 foot medium legend extreme and also the 7 foot ML Extreme. Bam!!!! Your problems are solved. You will then have the ultimate rod for both presentations. Just think Steve, if you did not literally just sell me your 7 foot legend elite you probably would only have to buy one rod!!! Buy the way, thank you!!! Dean will appreciate your business.

Hey Ron, Correct me if I am wrong but I believe is what you are asking is, why you need a bracket for the motor. Well, the motor turns 360 degrees and when you are traveling both in and out of the water that motor could rotate when you don’t want it to and then you will have problems.
