More than likely, they are “Infra-red” LED’s. The less expensive set-up’s run IR diodes. They will work but not to the extent of the visual color spectrum diodes. Let us know how that camera works when you get it in the water.

Fish tape, good electrical tape to ties them together. Tape entire connector, if it still tends to stick and bind, pull it back and apply either dish soap or wire pulling lube (Home Depot) and you’ll get it through. Don’t forget some words of encouragement either!

Those are the cutest pix I’ve ever seen!! Great job Chase…a 19″ Sauger is a fine fish on any day. Thanks for posting these for us. Ya put a big ol’ smile on this kermudgen’s face.

I would not add it to my oil. Seafoam is about 50% Naptha and Isopropyl Alcohol. Both being solvents (reducers). It would not do your newer motor much good. The fact that this additive will also combine with the hydrocarbons in the oil may alter their ability to protect against abrasion (film strength). As an additive to your gasoline, it may assist in the reduction of solids forming in the combustion chamber and cylinder walls (carbon deposits). I run it in my gas tank but can’t quantify if it really does anything. There’s more than likely enough additive in the Heptane/Pentane/Octane mix to minimize most of the formation already but I am of the impression that it could be doing something for me. I just don’t see that it would do much good (and probably inhibit) in the lubrication/cooling end of the motor. Of course, the Seafoam reps will tell you it’s the “end-all” for any type of formations. Just look at the chemical formula that makes up both Naptha and Iso…heavy hydrocarbons and CH3CHOHCH3. It’s comprised of a lot of carbon.
There’s no doubt that it’s the way of the future. There will be more “Hunting Clubs” springing up to make the leasing of land more affordable. The unfortunate aspect of leases is that the more land that is leased-off, the more land owners will jump on the band wagon. What many don’t understand is that once an owner leases (hence, receives compensation) his land, he is now liable for injuries associated with the activity that he is “selling/promoting”. My bro. was asked to “rent” a portion of his parcel to a snomo club a few years back. His attorney advised him to decline the offer but to draw-up a document stating he would not prohibit usage but would not condone it either. It was not ag land and would not post the property (therefore, making it legal for the club to cross it without written permission). In some states, a large percentage of non-public land is leased. The positive side of leasing hunting land is that it promotes management of resources. Farmers (for example) will tend to revert back to wildlife enhancing farming practices.

Man, this is so pathetic, I’ve just got to laugh. What a nightmare!! Sorry to chuckle at your dilemma but it’s just unbelievable. I feel like finding a 1/2 dozen bad props (real bad) and bringing them in to have them fixed and cupped … and “forgetting” to ever pick them up. Maybe you could go back and just start screaming and yelling and just going ballistic…maybe you can assist her in dealing with her “pain” by giving her another stoke. OK, that’s the evil side of me… I think we could all him you out by making a phone call to them and telling them that “I’d like to bring a prop in to have it repaired but that I had heard there was horrendous customer service so I’d like to ask a couple of questions about their policies” If 20 guys did this they’d get the message! She’d go off on every one of us. Hmm, think I’ll make a phone call on Monday!
Even if you get a variance, you’l never fit a boat of any size in there. No city of any size will allow for a port there either. Ports just aid in theft anyway…they protect thieves from all views. I’d just get a permit for a slab and put the boat out in the open. Bring your valuables in every time your get back and be sure to get a GOOD lock for the outboard.
I was a bit dismayed at the Rogers store. They’ve got an OK stock but nothing like Owatonna. THe cave doesn’t bargain like O either. I did find a variety of SOS-penders inflatable PFD’s and they were 50% off. I bought one, of course. Have fun.
There’s several aspects to consider. Moving the motor back should raise the RPM’s. Measure the center of the bullet referencing teh pad. You should more than likely be in the 4-5″ range. The motor will be below the plane of the pad. Only super performance boats run above pad (Bullets, Strokers, Allisons and Gamblers to name a few). How is the holesjot now that you have a plate on it? Also, what’s your water pressure at 5000RPM’s (should hold around 15-20psi while running straight. A 26″ on a 200 should be right about where you want to be. In my humble opinion, running more pitch will more than likely kill your holeshot and be just a bit too much for that motor, overall. Could be a 28 is about right too but going up to that is quite a jump. Get the centerline of the propshaft to pad and let’s start there. If you don’t happen to have a water pressure gauge, get one too.
Good suggestion on the Teflon spray! I thought my Ranger was the only style that had to have a winch to get them out! I’ll take your advise and give mine a spray. As for the Crestliner (aftermarket) peds, unless they’re very loose, it’s probably not a big deal.
Gander Mtn doesn’t have much for BFN tackle. The Fridley store had a rack that went pretty fast (clearanced). One thing I’ve found is that the jig heads are pretty tough to come-by. Evert’s has a great selection… but better than just selection, Dean is a GREAT resource for info. In general, I’ve found GM a very poor resource and will order directly from BFN or go to Everet’s.
We just had a bit of a discussion over on the BBC about this exact same issue. The LMS-334c seems to have issues with being mounted in the bow (in a predominantly horizontal plane). I am a Ham Radio operator and a lot of emphasis is placed on antenna theory in this hobby. One thing you want to avoid is changing the “polarization” of the receiving antenna from what the transmitting antenna polarization is… in other words, stay away from vertical antennas when the transmitting antennas are horizontal. It gets MUCH deeper than this but the moderator would probably ban me if I went into the whole thing here. Basically, you should try to stay with a vertical mounting scheme with your internal GPS unit to reduce “Polarization Attenuation”. Hope I don’t come across as too arrogent here but from my understanding of the whole deal, you’re (generally) better-off with an external antenna…period. Andy
I had an older (1978) Mirro-Craft “Mister Musky” with a 50hp Merc….28mph was it. That is what the speedo said so who knows what it was running! If you’re going off you speedo, you may be going +/- 3-4 mph. My Ranger speedo at 30 mph (GPS) is right at 30 but at 60 GPS, it reads 62. 30 mph with a tiller is running PLENTY fast! OH ya, I want to add one other thing…my buddy ran the exact same boat with a 55 Johnson…it ran MUCH faster than my Merc! It just wouldn’t troll down as smooth as the black box. Andy
Get in, open window, turn ignition on and listen for the fuel pump to whine for about 5 seconds. Try and start it. Chances are, the fuel pump is stuck and not charging the system. Also, like previously stated, disconnect coolant temp sensor and for a rich mix. Good luck and let us know what you find.
Thanks for the welcome and for the info. We’re deciding if the Jeep is really what we want and I do have a ’95 burb to haul it around in general. It’s got a 5.7 w/ 3.42 gears and it is just terrible for pulling in the hills! Not sure why anyone would put those gears in that truck as it just destroys the pulling power and still only gets 13 mpg. One good thing about teh boat though…low gunnels so at least it’s not like I’m dragging around a big drift sock! Andy
Ted,
One other item that caught my eye… why did you direct him on the point of “also advising him that he make it clear to DNR that he was contacting me”? Wouldn’t you want to allow the actual process to work before having him bring the media to the table? I would just like to caution you when moving forward with this. Don’t look for a smoking gun before it was ever fired! Good luck with the story!
Ted,
If you are doing an article on Wisconsin DNR, CO complaints, why not just go to them. It’s public record. I would not advise coming here and looking for sportsmen to pony up their stories from last week, last month or last year. If the issue they had was legit, they would have filed and proceeded with the process and that should really be what you are after… “who has filed a complaint with the WI DNR for alleged abuse of power by a CO”. If there was no formal complaint submitted at the time of the situation, there’s no story to print. You’ll never get an objectively based article going about this the way you are. Start at the records end and work your way from there. At this point I’ll have to say that your interest in an article on the abuse of power by WI CO’s might be putting the cart before the horse. I’ll ask a question to all here, “Have YOU ever filed a complaint with the WI DNR regarding this issue?” If you have, please help him out by providing him with the case number and the follow-up… Ted will take it from there.

Gander Mountain pops you half a buck for a bag of air now I saw the sign recently and just shook my head! Guess they are running a bit short on funds after building all their new stores. Wonder what the future holds for them once Bass Pro comes to town Hit the nursery on Ipava Ave whenever possible. That was a good tip!
Hi guys. First post on the site. Has anyone had experience pulling 3K lbs with the 4.7L Cherokee? I’m gonna buy one for my wife and will hi-jack it for pulling my 18′ Ranger to and fro. I’m not a Chysler fan but do like the Cherokee in general. As far as the diesels go, there’s nothing better for pullin’ of course but the cost of fuel can tend to be prohibitive. My bro got a ’03 Ford and just after he picked it up, diesel went to 3.49/gal. I believe it has something to do with home heating and such so I would imagine the price will drop when most are pulling their boats (summer). Thanks for any input on the Jeeps! Andy
