I got my English springer from Cedar Knoll Kennel in Kilkenney. She’s a hunting machine. A little on the smaller side. She will be 10yo this summer. Still works hard but slowing down these days.

I have to agree with Shaley. Bought a Nils 2-3 years ago and it is the greatest. Still super sharp. Goes through the ice like butter. Weighs nothing. Pricey for a hand auger though. And when I say it is sharp, OH MAN, I think I still have a bit of a scab.
January 14, 2009 at 1:29 am #737065I have been on the fire side for years as well, and at least with the EMS stuff, you have a lot more calls where you actually get to help people, not constantly cancelled enroute. And I guess that’s why you do this sort of work anyway, right?
January 14, 2009 at 1:27 am #737063I wish you luck. But, in reality, you probably don’t need it. It’s not as tough as your friends are making it out to be. Just read the chapters, work hard on the practicals and you will do just fine. I have been an EMT for years and if I can do it, anyone can.
December 26, 2008 at 12:19 pm #731765An oldy but goody, is shouting FLAG DOWN, and watch people slip and slide for a brief moment! It usually works once, maybe twice during a trip out on the ice.
December 10, 2008 at 12:58 am #727451I have one of those little coleman lanterns as well. Weighs nothing, takes up very litle room and will actually keep the chill off the shack if it isn’t TOO cold. I like headlamps as well though.
April 5, 2008 at 10:18 pm #671666Have you tried a beer and wine making supply store? There is a good one on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, called Northern Brewer. I bet they could help you.
April 4, 2008 at 3:09 pm #671248There is a public launch in St. Paul Park next to Willie’s Hidden Harbor. Two lanes if I remember correctly, out of the main channel in a public park. Nice launch.
August 23, 2007 at 2:18 am #602638Bottle bay area is always good for a few during the day. Work the mouths of the bays. Also, in the evenings, head to the channel between slaughterhouse and the Pine Beach Lodge. It has real steep high walls on the north(?) side, you can’t miss it. Drag deep both sides with something like a thunderstick and also try the middle area of the channel and jig the biggest fatheads you can get. Get there early because it fills up. This is where the big ones are, and lots of em’. Stop in at Pine Beach Lodge for a Cuban Cigar. Say hi to Rick and Helen.
June 4, 2007 at 1:24 am #577530I remember a certain sock that is available for this purpose. I believe you either slide the gun in the sock and then into the case or just the sock, I am not sure. I would think Cabela’s, Gander, etc. must have them.
I do know what that salty/humid air can do to metals. I lived in Daytona for a year and both my motorcyles had extensive damage to steel and especially the aluminum parts. I had to replace some parts when I came back to Minnesota and get others polished.
April 14, 2007 at 6:15 pm #560754Please thank your son from me and mine for his selfless service to our country.
April 1, 2007 at 4:47 pm #555684I don’t have a kicker on my boat. (17 foot Cresliner, 140hp Johnson) I would like one though. I have a Minnkota with the Autopilot (?)in the front, that can be controlled with a key fob. That’s nice. But I wish I had a kicker for back trolling instead of trying to get the Johnson to troll down. But there are other, more pressing things to purchase nowadays. I do, however, have a transom mount electric that helps a bit, but it’s difficult to use effectively. Don’t know if this helps, but that’s my story.
March 9, 2007 at 11:23 pm #547085I think I remember something about housing of some sort going in there.
January 14, 2007 at 11:14 pm #522682I launch at the Bluffs. It can get busy if you don’t get down there pretty early, but is a great launch. It is pretty central if you stay south of Hudson mostly. 10 minutes or so south to the confluence or 5 minutes north to the Kinne. Hope this helps.
December 8, 2006 at 10:19 pm #508881Judas Priest a year or two ago at Excel Center. Why? Beacuse my son’s brought me for my birthday. It had been probably 20 years since the last time I saw them in Germany while I was in the Army.
September 25, 2006 at 11:51 pm #482527I had nearly the exact thing happen to me two seasons ago. Close to sunset, head on shot, 20 yards, started raining as soon as I climbed down, found the arrow pretty quick a few yards down the trail and some blood, ran back to the truck for a light. Went back to the spot I found the arrow and started searching. Crawled around for an hour with no luck, I could see what blood I did find quickly dissipating in the rain. Like you I looked in the morning with no luck. Felt horrible, not that I didn’t take the deer, but that she probably went somewhere and died. I will more careful the next time I have a shot in those conditions.

July 7, 2006 at 7:24 pm #458868I agree about St. Croix Bluffs Regional. Nice 3 wide launch. Quite a few parking spots (30-40?) 5 minutes north to the Kinne.
June 11, 2006 at 1:19 am #452930Mine came today. I have to admit I am not that worried about it myself. I have to have jeopordized my personal information on my own plenty of times. And with any luck at all, the moron who burglurized the VA workers home is too stupid to know what he has.
June 7, 2006 at 2:00 am #451914Rootski,
I don’t know you, but from another South St. Paul boy, get well soon. WayneMay 24, 2006 at 3:17 am #448687I have a 140 Johnson 4-stroke as well on my 17′ Crestliner. Great gas economy. The only problem I see is the same as the 4-stroke Yamaha I had before the Johnson. It needs gas so seldom, that I kind of quit looking at the gauge and then one day I look and I have almost nothing left and I need to get back to the launch!! Well, I guess that isn’t a big problem.
May 12, 2006 at 11:22 pm #446026I’ll be out there early. I think I’ll start up by the Kinne and see what’s up. Say hi, I’m in a black 17′ Crestliner, 140 Johnson 4-stroke.
