Here is my take on this.
First, We will be discussing the Lake Pepin flighting format for the 2010 tournament. What I am thinking is this. There will be (2) drawings. After the first (2) weeks that the entry’s are sent out, or posted on this site, we will have the first drawing for the top numbers. With 1 week prior to the tournament date, we will have the next drawing for all the boats entered since the first drawing. The last week and at the orientation will then be in the order they receive. Again, this I believe is fair as the people whom are dedicated, and for sure plan on fishing, will have the best chance for the higher boat number. The later you wait, the chances for a higher boat number drops………to the point whereas you will be assigned a later boat number the longer one procrastinates.
Another perspective to is this has been an issue for the LPO (who got the higher boat numbers). In fact, last year was the first year (at least in the past 5) whereas the first boats out actually won the tournament. In fact, 2 years ago one of the last boats won the tournament.

Sorry all for not posting a response earlier. Still recovering from the NTC tournament on Devils Lake!
Anyway, as of yesterday, we are at 22. I believe we will be at our historical average of 60 plus boats again this year.

We had some issues and lost our database of all our past participant addresses. I was able to locate a good share of addresses however. If you do not receive your entry in the mail by Wed., June 24th, your address was probably one of those lost. Please email me at that point if you did not receive an email and I will get one to you. We do have 11 boats signed up as of today, so in the next week, there will be a lot more coming in.
Thanks!

The weights listed are only the top 10. We were down in nuumbers this year (17 boats), so that is why we are being proactive and change the LPO format for next year. I see no reason why this tournament, the original Pool 4 tournament, can’t pull in 75 plus boats. The bite historically has been fantastic for this tournament.

PS: The payout to the top 4 teams were as follows. The tournament was a 90% payback:
1st – $2100
2nd – $1100
3rd – $850
4th – $470
Thanks everyone for all the thoughts and ideas for next year. Definitely looks as if lower entry’s are definitely the direction we need to go. Everything else is on the table and your recomendations will be taken into serious consideration. We are pretty much locked into the same weekend in April, from a permit standpoint. If we change weekends, we lose our “grandfathered in” status, and we could be subject to a draw to see whether we would even get a permit. Keep all your ideas and suggestions coming. This tournament is about the anglers, and we will do whatever we can to satisfy the majority of the anglers that participate in the LPO.
Thanks again for all your suggestions and keep them coming!

PS: Personally, I would like to see the tournament stay 2 days also so as to give more opportunity for changes in the standings. However, I am DARN happy (due to the weather Sunday) of just having a 1 day tournament this year!
Just a reminder that we have waived the $50 late entry fee. Teams can register the night of the orientation meeting. Orientation Meeting info is as follows:
