Well didn’t chase them eyes much at all again this year. Never even made it over to Green bay. Did find some weedline fish though in the canal.

Talk about a hot bite! The Kings were hitting everything for us all week. Didn’t work the reef to hard. 150FOW morn and evening was the ticket and down DEEP during the day. The charters weren’t having to work very hard at all either. Lots were filling up by 7-8 in the mornings.

We’re headed up that way for a week. 8/5-12 Dad was up for 3 days last weekend and they did very well! Prolly staying at Snug Harbor out of sturgeon bay. Would like to try for some eyes this year as well. Any advice for the bay side. Any reports? Any certain cranks I need to pick up on the way or before?

Also, fishing out of a 18.5′ boat, where would we try for salmon on the bay side if the waves get too big for us? Any info would be appreciated, Thanks!

Good luck on the report, for whatever reason, everyone is always pretty tight lipped when it comes to the bun.

The big girls haven’t really been showing up so far yet, from what I hear, must still be deep. Lots of smaller fish being caught though. THe pts were hot earlier in the week, but the tourney last weekend, proved that bite had definitely slowed. Fish were being caught shallow (4ft) and deep(12-18).

I plan on heading down on Sunday.

Should be on the rise and clarity of choc. milk by the weekend. If that’s the case, might think about Roberts Creek, which is on the N side of the lake. The inflow tube should be crowded w/ reason. Another idea too is below the dam. Heard the whites were going like crazy over the weekend.

Herb, how did you end up doing after we left? We ended up skipping the pond and hitting Roberts creek. Had 3-4″ of ice and absolutely hammered the specks. To bad the were shorts, lol. Did manage 15 or so worth cleaning though. Ice was going fast that afternoon.

Spkworms, the speck report is second hand, but right on. I don’t fish it in the fall for craps. I fish another lake this time of year to get the big boys and girls.

The craps are going, just not a lot of size is being caught. Eyes are still slow. I think temps were still around 64-65 on Sunday. Need them to drop a bit yet. They had started to pick up 1-2 weeks ago but again slow is the word.

4 days on the water well spent. Brought home our limits without too much trouble. Wasted a little too much time fishing N of the bank, but got into them once we went banking. 130-140FOW treated us well Sat and sun. Riggers and wire dipsies were the best producers.

Never fished the bay for eyes but did very well on the northerns in the canal. No big fish plenty but plenty of action on the 24-28″.

leinieman, easy answer on the salmon. Put in at sturgeon and head to the hill. Jump in with the pack and fish the break. Need to have lines in the water by 430 at the latest! 4-5am has been the time, along with the last hour of day, right when the sun is setting. Last saturday dad had lines in the water at 430. First fish in the box at 436 and 4-5 others joined it before 5. That morning they boated 2 doubles and a triple! Lately on that evening bite anything before the last hour to hr and a half has been a bonus. Everything was putting up fish, riggers, dipseys, wires and lead.

When we go for weekend trips we only fish salmon. Wanting to try some eyes though on this 5 day at the end of the month. Not even sure where to start though. I have a map coming in the mail. I’d take any info you could offer on the eyes.

Well Dave, hope you did better than I. Caught 1 keeper, 2 shorts and a 5.5lber on Sat. Sunday, 2 keepers and 2 shorts. Kind of a tough one.

No big deal Terry, probably could of used a bit of advice though. My follow to strike ratio was just crap! Saw a few pigs and several other nice fish. Lost 2, and boated 1. Monday raised the most fish. Lifted 3 off of a hazard in 15 minutes.W/ 1 strike and the result, 1st lost fish of the week. Small eyes were not hard to find but the better eaters were a bit tougher. Man was it something HOT up there.

Slip bobber and leeches? Did well on them last year that way on the pts. How much success have you had trolling crank/spinner when they’re suspended like that?

When will you be up there mwit? I’m headed to Muskego on Sat for a week.

Haven’t heard much for reports either.

Anyone????? Eyes and Muskie. FYI, no eyes over 20 will be kept and all Muskie will be CPR’d if that helps for a more accurate report.

245 views and no responses, that’s crap!

Something like this would benefit everyone. The area bait shops, gas stations, restaurants, other businesses in the surrounding communities, and especially the fisherman!

This is a great idea which can only be accomplished by sportsman backing and supporting it! Letters will need to be written, calls will need to be made, and a little effort from everyone would go a long way. Maybe a few could step up to the plate here.

Sounds like a fantastic idea! Red Rock could really use a little face lift. Some rock piles, stake beds, reefs, humps, etc, etc, etc!!!! Let me know what I can do. I’m in and out of quite a few bait shops around the area. I even have a couple contacts that might be helpful.

Goody, it’s so refreshing to hear them called White Bass. It just amazes me how almost EVERYONE calls them Stripers around there. Some will even argue and swear that they are stripers. I’ve tried explaining the differences to a lot of people. It’s a lost cause though. I just need to learn to let it go.

Anyway, some guys were doing pretty good on the “stripers” last week. I even picked up several that were went 16-17 1/2″.

I hear ya, for $5 a pop, you’d think the SOB’s could tune them for you. Using snaps will help keep them running true after a fish though. I have to say, I’ve seen some good ole biggens come on them!
