No keepers for me Saturday but only fished until noon. I’ve never seen such an abundance of short fish or lack of bigger fish in an area before, fishing 3 days last week I’m sure I caught 100 fish but only 3 over 15″ and none over 17″… And I fished from 106 all the way to the lake. Hopefully a little rain will get the river and bigger fish moving this week.
As far a hearing protection yeah if I’m running a long ways with it but just fishing no… Don’t think I have to worry about sneaking up on anyone with it either

Yeah I had 46-48* on Wed too, but I was surprised the plastic bite was way off… One small sauger on purple was it, everything else came on minnows. Gonna try my luck again Friday morning after work.

Thanks for the invite, had a good time. That was a pretty nice pile of fish too, good to see you got a meal out of them. I was kinda surprised how big of a zoo it was out there….. And I’m glad I brought my big cleats too as it was definitely slick out, Bubbs was even taking it pretty slow. Good luck if you get back out there this weekend, I think there’s a fisharee Saturday too.

Where are you thinking of going tomorrow? I know a guy that has an extra LX-5, but I work until 7:30 tomorrow morning…. Gimme a call or a PM….

We give our 120 pound, 6yo black lab both. 750mg glucosmine 2x per day and 1/2 of a 7.5mg meloxicam 1x per day. He’s been taking the glucosamine for the last couple years and the meloxicam for the last 6 months or so since his last knee reconstruction. We get the meloxicam, 30 pills, enough for 2 months, for about $11 at the vet. The glucosamine we get at walgreens in 240 count dietary supplement tables.

1280×800, the whole site pretty much takes the center 4″ of the screen and lays out the display. I have to scroll about 4 pages to get the bottom.
Same here, running I.E.8. Can’t get the quote function to work either and very slow page loading. Also have to minimize the navigation pane at the top of the page on each new page.

An appropriately late report from last Friday, 5/30. Been so busy this spring haven’t been fishing since ice season but finally got my spring project done and the weather looked to be good with light winds. After a few texts and phone calls, I got some intel on the bite, grabbed some jumbo leaches and night crawlers on the way home from work Friday morning. Launched at the bypass by 10am, started jigging in 12-15 fow, picked up a few short walleyes and a 7″ yellow bass. The wind picked up a little and I started dragging the bottom with the jigs, I picked up a pair of 17″ers, a walleye and a sauger then I hooked a bigger fish, fought well, pulling drag, and felt like head shakes, netted a nice 25-26″…….. sheepshead The wind picked up after noon and made boat control a challenge so called it a day by 2pm. Was a good first day open water fishing for the year, had a good fish fry for the wife and I too.

What time are you guys going out Saturday? May have to run up there and join you, have never fished Ripley and would like to try it….

On my auto fisherman I’ve found longer rods are better, it’ll work with shorter rods but I think longer ones take up more line when released and have a better hooking percentage….

Belated congrats on the anniversary, gonna hit the sports show at state fair park saturday but want to get out fishing sunday. Will prolly just hit one of the Lauderdale lakes….

Yeah gonna drive out as long as the shore doesn’t take too bad of a beating today with the rain forcasted… Had 24″ to 26″ of ice last week where I was at. You sure can stop out although it’ll prolly be 9 to 9:30am Sunday morning before I can get out as I’ve gotta work this weekend and don’t get off of work until 7:30…..

I think my son and I are going to get out this weekend on the Lauderdale chain, just not sure if Saturday morning later after he gets home from work/school or Sunday after I get home from work…. We’re headed up north snowmobiling next weekend so this will be last weekend to target a tasty pike or two…. Will keep ya posted towards the end of the week.

Mark there was plenty of venison sausage and sticks going around just no pics, tough to do when you’re eating with both hands… truly a great time was had by all.
Randy, like the sound of an open water GTG on the rock somewhere. Hopefully we have a relatively slow thaw, but I’m afraid we’ll be dealing with high water for a while this spring….

Randy, thanks for putting up some pics of the outing. Too bad we were that close to WinnebagoViking, we did use him as a landmark to regroup for lunch . As was said the fishing was, well, fishing…. But the company and good times were unmatched, good to meet a few new IDO’ers and catch up with old friends. The food was great, those Polish sausages Ed brought were excellent. Travel on the lake wasn’t too bad but I still managed to bury my truck to the bumper blazing a trail off the lake… The weather was ok although a little cool to start the day…we only had a few flurries later in the afternoon so that was a plus. As for using the grill to thaw beers, well this IS Wisconsin and it’ll take more than a little cool weather to keep a man from enjoying a refreshing beverage
Once again thanks everybody for making it a great day and hope to see everyone soon either on the ice or whenever we can get the boats out…(should be before Mothers day I hope )

Can we get a rough head count? So far it looks like Mudshark, Randy, Z-Man, River-Bank, WinnebagoViking, Databoy, broadwaybob, Pablito, and myself have said they’re in. Anybody else interested in joining post up here, just take sure we have enough to eat and a few .

That should cover it for buns and condiments, I’ll also bring a few sticks of venison summer sausage. Just picked up an auger extension too, just in case… I’ve had this auger since ’90 and this is the first year that I may need one…
Randy has a good suggestion on a tow strap, I have logging chains but my tow strap met an untimely demise last fall and I haven’t found a good one really heavy enough for my truck, a diesel SRW F350 4 door, almost 8000# empty.

I was planning on bringing them but if someone else wants to that’s fine also. Was planning on boiling up a couple dozen brats and bringing a big family pack of hotdogs too.

Well just start a couple days early, you could even hit GB for some whitefish on Sunday
Really if anyone wants to join in it’ll be a good time, maybe not as productive fish wise as the SD GTG but I’m sure we’ll have fun

We need to get We-Fish to come along too, between you and I we’ll be able to get Gregg and Andy set-up. We can caravan up there, I’ve got a 4 door truck but can’t fit two shantys and auger and all the other crap in back…

Gregg, sure can run up through Fort and pick you up… Send me a pm and we’ll figure out the details.

I’ll most likely be solo too, have room in the truck and a two man flip. If someone wants they can ride and fish with me or we could meet up at an access and just ride out on the lake. Also have plenty of gear for at least another person and a spare LX-5….
I can even through in my Honda 2000w generator if anyone wanted to bring something that needs to stay hot, let me know. Like I said I’ll bring a grill and some johnsonvilles, hot dogs and the fixings.

I was planning on going, who else is able to make it? I will try to get a post up for the GTG before tomorrow morning.
