    Hi Tom, a couple years ago I made 2 trips over to the Bayfield area for splake, lakers, browns ect.. I was wondering if your planning on heading over in Jan. I can’t typically get any or many takers. shoot me a pm, thanks I live in lake city, do you ever come over to ice fish methodist area?

    I spent 9+yrs. in Spring Valley, fished alot on the SE streams. I am located in Montrose now (far W.Metro) I am giving strong consideration to heading to the Brule for the opener sat.31st. I am off at 11am every fri. Rick 763-238-2388 I’ll pm you guys later, thanks for the interest!

    Well, yesterday has come and gone, and so has our trip to the meth hole for Mr. Whiskers. I am ashamed to say that my friend Scott and I did not hook or land a kitty. Scott who jokingly and openly refers to walleyes as ‘gay fish’ managed to land just that- a 13incher on a white pimple w/minnow pcs. We tried two different spots on the downstream side of the hole 47’& 52′. jigging spoons with a chunk of shiner of fathead, fatheads under bobbers – SHUTOUT!

    what species do you target on the big pond-trout? am originally from Proctor, have fished a few streams along the S.shore for nearly 25yrs. I,ve always wanted to try that area.

    Thanks for the help everyone. Wow, great to know about the differing ice conditions & depth. Scott plans on bringing his 250 6×6, we will be certain to keep it parked away from our setup. Probably need to pound some holes to confirm ice thickness. Neither of us have ever catfished in the winter, but were sure looking forward to seeing Mr. Whiskers, its been too long!

    Hey Larry, were you guys using cutbait or other offerings? With the foam bobbers, I’ll assume some type of livebait. Of course thatsjust an assumption. Thanks for the help!

    FATCATS and I will be bringing a large cooker of homemade stuffing, pickled herring and disposable plates. mmm sure sounds like this is going to be some kind of feast! Were pondering just how many leftovers there might be…
