I have been to Rainy 7 different times and most of them have been the second full week of June. We have never been to the Canadian side and have never felt the need to try it. I agree on getting help from Chris to get you started in the right direction. My group is always the do it your self kind of group and we took a few lumps for a few years in trying to find fish. Now that we have learned the lake better it seems like I see Chris fishing the same areas on a regular basis. There is so much water on our side of the border, I don’t see the point/cost of going over to the Canadian side. Just my 2 cents worth.

I had the same problem with my 522c. Transducer was bad. A friend had a similar problem and recommended that I caulk around the housing where the wire enters. I did this on a new transducer and has been worry free since.

I have a Stihl front tine that is well over 30 years old and it is still going strong. You can’t beat the front tine for getting close to fences and also plants.

My main goal this summer is to spend more time away from work with my children in the boat with me. I have had some of the best conversations with my kids trolling with crawler harnesses, eating snacks, and drinking juice boxes.

I personally like fishing a mayfly hatch. When they are hatching, just find the mud and you will be on fish. It is the post mayfly hatch that can be frustrating. Full bellies for the walleyes and the fishing slows. What flowage are you going to be fishing here in Northern Wisconsin?

    Chris:

We always try to predict the water levels on Rainy for our annual trip the second week of June. With the amount of snow that you currently have can we expect it to be within the rule curve or is there other factors besides the current amount of snow to consider.

I will be heading up to Rainy again this summer for the 6th time. We stay at a resort near Voyagers and target walleye primarily but several of us in the group like to target smallies once in a while. We do not cross into Canandian waters and are still trying to learn the Minnesota side. We are usually there during the 2nd full week of June. I am the guy in the red Crestliner that waves to everyone. I have watched this site for years and have appreciated all of the insight everyone is willing to share.
