I ordered a bunch of this 1 1/8″ crappie crankbait bodies and have been busy doing a color feast using the perch pattern. Needless to say there are a lot of stripes on these little guys. I did some color play on a couple of these as well.
The top right blue bait has blue along the back from the tail forward about 2/3 of the way, then a strong purple pearl to the nose. The purple feathers down past the eyes and onto the gill cover areas but its hard to pick it up in the picture. Its really cool in the sunlight. The purple on this one and the other with the purple back are top coated in clear spiked heavily with violet hi lite which really plays with light for some cool color affects.
The blue stripes on the pink bait show well in the picture but they are done with a clear paint full of blue hi lite pigment and at another angle may not be visible at all. Its pretty trick and borders on being holographic. Neat stuff and natural looking.
This bait will get to 6′ on an easy retrieve with 4 pound line. A small split-shot two feet ahead of the bait will get it to about 9 feet fairly easy so the bait is versatile.
