Here’s a gunmetal plastic using purple .015 glitter along with purple .015 glitter. There’s twice as much gunmetal as purple but the camera’s filter hides it in the sun while this picture was taken. Gotta love filters.

The clear bellied baits are made by hand pouring the clear/fire opal micro glitter bellies and then injecting the gunmetal plastic on top.

The chartreuse and purple baits were done using a Do-It Twin Injector which allows the two plastics to be injected simultaneously. This splits the tail into two colors as can be seen in the picture.

The shad bait shown is 2 1/2″ in length and these are headed straight for my crappie bucket.

Here’s yet another bait done using the twin injection system. This bait is 1 7/8″ long and the dime is for size comparison.

For those who are curious, a twin injector and a conventional injector are shown here. The conventional injector resembles a turkey baster. The one shown is a 4 ounce model. The twin injector is a pair of 3 ounce injectors that are filled simultaneously and then attached to the rectangular block [called a blending block] at the bottom with the nipple protruding that fits in the injection gate of the mold. If you look carefully you can see the two holes in that nipple instead of the one in the conventional injector. As the two rods are depressed they run plastic under pressure into the galleries found inside the block and both plastics enter the mold at the same time. When properly set into the mold gate the incoming plastic splits to get a near perfect color split in the finished baits.

Commercial injection utilizes multiple injectors and blending blocks only of a much, much larger scale.

Its a slick way to laminate. It splits color clear thru even thin tails. The price is competitive and its easy to use.
