I like to play with and tweak factory colors that plastic baits come in. There’s just something about having what nobody else has in he tackle arsenal. This bait was done in a standard color call Vampire and had a black back, heavy silver glitter belly and a heavy red glitter gill patch. I changed things up a bit and thinned the black out to a medium smoke. The belly color got some super sparkle and silver micro glitter added and the gill patch plastic was made using a medium grain glitter and has some red hi lite in it.

The red and silver plastics were hand poured in the bottom section of the mold and the smoke was injected to finish the bait. I decided after the injection of the smoke that the smoke as too thin for my liking, so instead of tossing the baits I brushed some pigments in green and blue on a couple baits before the eye dip was made. The top bait in the picture is as it came from the mold.

These baits are 1.5″ in length and the dime is for size reference.

Those look great! I like the shorter length for smaller jigs early in the season.
