The picture doesn’t do it justice. Very pretty fish. They aren’t high on the totem pole for most fishermen, but I am intrigued. They are hyper aggressive fish and if you get into a big school of them they can be fun. And I like how they taste.

Yes, Spanish mackerel. I like them, but they have a strong “fishy” taste. I think people usually smoke them, make dip or cook them in heavy sauce. The first and last time I had it at a local restaurant it was in a bath of soy sauce. Personally I don’t get the “it tastes fishy” thing. I like fish from mild to strong flavors. You need either wire or heavy fluoro when targeting them.
