Zebra mussels

    Was fishing on lake ida by Alexandria today and of course caught a small perch he had a zebra mussel in his mouth and a big lump in there also. I haven’t seen that before so wondering if it’s common to catch fish with mussels attached to their mouths. I don’t fish many lakes with zebra mussels so this was eye opening.

    It’s been documented over the years perch feed on zebra mussels. Not heavily, but it happens more than ya think.

    Would assume the “big lump” in the mouth was just coincidental?

    Perhaps worth mentioning to your local DNR.
