Has anyone ever giving the thought of gathering up live Mayflies and freezing them for winter time use? I thought of giving the tree branches a shake when they have hatched and then using a kids butterfly net to gather them. Then storing them in baggies and plucking the wings off before dropping them down the hole. Just trying to think out of the box for winter time baits.

Isn’t easier to just buy wigglers in the winter? I would thing they would get mushy and just fall apart.

    X2.
I would think you’d want to look into using larvae. I would, however, confirm legality before collecting my own.

You can only collect by hand and use on water collected from and release unused nymphs back in in WI. I have seen them live in bait shops in MI but that was years ago
