What is your #1 spoon or jig right now? I’d like to expand my ammo.

Either the first one you put on when you hit hard water. Or the one that has been successful as of late.

I’ll start; the one that I have that has been successful is the 1/12oz Northland Macho Minnow in Glow Blue-Rainbow. Secondly, my JB Lure 1/16oz Big Bad Bo’ in Pink-Glow.

If I HAD to fish spoons, it would be a VMC Tingler, hands down. The flashy fluttering action on the sink is deadly. That being said, I have yet to take the Rippin Rap off one of my rods all season toast

Tough to find the #4 Rippin Rap that is referred to so often. I do look every time too.

It does seem like many physical store locations are sold out currently, but with a little searching online, they are still available.

I don’t think anyone saw how darn popular these things would get. Once people got a chance to fish them, store peg hooks became empty very quick.

I have had great success with the smallest Tingler Spoon specifically in Glow Red Shiner.

Maybe it’s a confidence deal, but I actually prefer the 1/8oz Tumbler Spoon. I have had great luck with both the Tingler and Tumbler though. Yellow Perch is my go to color.

Spoons are like potato chips… No way you can just have one!

That said there are two spoons that are my go-to’s to start are mission searching perch/walleye. If I am hole hopping looking for fish I will always begin with a fast dropping spoon and especially in low light conditions my favorite is a 1/8 oz flash champ in glow red color.

If I am set up in a specific location once I’ve found fish I find that the larger tingler spoons are second to none. The slow fluttering action of this spoon is hard for fish to resist even when they’re not in an aggressive mood. I will typically have a rod with each of these spoons tied up at the beginning of every walleye trip.

Fiskas marmoska style jigs. I impale maggots or plastic on my mooskas and they do fine for me.

I just can’t get the the spoon bite, right.

I’ve had some good Chubby Darter/Zipper fish but that’s for a different thread.

Lost a full box of Slender Spoons last winter before I could figure out how to make ’em work like the IDO folks did before they switched sponsors last year.

Andy, I think I have to get over not having any bait on my presentation. Eurolarvae or minnow heads at the least. The Idaho perch opened up my eyes!

1/16 pink VMC tingler tipped with a waxie. Its about all I have used 90 percent of the winter. Just destryoing gills/crappie/perch on western Wisconsin lakes with it. This thing is money.

This season it has to be the VMC rattle spoon in 1/8th oz size and yellow perch color. Natural forage plus rattles to call them in, very tough not to try right away to see if fish are aggressive.

My workhorse this season so far has been VMC Tungsten Tubby jigs. Red glow or Orange Chartreuse glow in 1/16oz has been my number one for crappies and for shallow gills I’ve been using 1/32oz.

I have to agree with Andy on the Rippin Raps and Ultra Lite Rippin Raps. Every year my go-to changes, whether it’s CJS Slenders, Rattl’n Flyers, Flash Champ, Tingler or Tumblers, but this year I’ve had the most confidence in Rippin Raps.

They’ve been very effective on walleyes and perch and I even had a chance to rip lips on about 2 dozen large smallie’s this year in about 22 fow.

Crappies in the 1/16th and walleyes in the 1/8th. If aggressive enough crappies they will hit the bigger 1/8th as well!

Rattlin Flyer in red is always my first pick when after eyes. My best crappie setup this year has been a tungsten jig with a maki mino head in red.

CJ&S Lighting spoon in Firetiger 1/8th. Had success and also have confidence.

No VMC experience, I’m still on Slender Spoons for 2nd choice, 1/8th.

Here’s what it’s not. Buckshot rattle spoons. Never do well so why do I keep putting them down the hole? Did I read too much advertising?
