In the week leading up to my vacation last week the guys at Skeeter Boat Center – Chip Falls were presented the nearly impossible challenge of rigging a WX 2190, complete with kicker, jack plate, depth and speed probe (Fish Hawk), VHF radio, bow mount trolling motor, batteries, chargers and a VERY complex Garmin install that included 3 – XVS touch screen units networked to run from 4 mounting points (two on the dash, one at the bow, one at the kicker motor). Impossible why you ask? Because they had 4 days to do it! I was scheduled to leave on vacation on a Tuesday. They received the boat the previous week late in the day on Wednesday.

After a full week on the water fishing this boat up on Lake of the Woods and finding only ONE issue with the Garmin install which was related to me choosing the wrong Panoptix transducer (being swapped out today – THANKS GARMIN!) my most lasting impression after running the boat is how impressed I am with the perfection of the rigging.

What made this possible, in addition to some very talented riggers, was Eric Rehberg’s attention to detail and the incredible inventory of interface cables, wiring, mounts… you name it. And not just for Garmin. For all major brands.

As Eric and I walked through what I wanted to see done he took notes of all the equipment that was going to be needed. Once we were done with the walk-thru of the boat, Eric took me to the parts room where he proceeded to pull down ALL the small items needed to complete the project. I’m talking about all the little adapter cables, networking cables, mounts… everything guys like me seem to forget when ordering up all the big ticket items like sonar units and trolling motors. Without that inventory in stock there’s no conceivable way I would have received my boat on time.

So what the purpose of this post? We all know the guys at SBC do a fantastic job. If you find your rigging project stalled because you can’t find the parts you need or just need an experienced person to help you with the shopping list if you’re going to do the install yourself… give Eric a call. Chances are he has that hard to find cable or mount in stock. If not, he can likely get it in a day or two and help you turn your Do It Yourself project into a DONE It Myself project in short order.

You sure did give us a challenge on that one!! I don’t know how many miles of cables were pulled through that boat but I know it was the most I have ever seen.
We are always up for a new challenge every now and again and glad to here everything turned out as you expected.

If anybody is looking for that rare cable, mounting options or even just basic boat needs including pumps, drain plugs, etc. etc. feel free to give us a call.

Thanks again for the challenge James!!

Got mine up there right now. Dropped it off yesterday for a few upgrades and repairs. Don’t like to fish in the dead heat of summer anyway. I was impressed with the time and attention to detail Tony gave me when I came in with no appointment to inspect the boat and make recommendations. So far the legendary great service is living up to reality. Charlie has been great too!

    Eric,

Which mount do I need for the Xi5?

Freshwater Black Part # MGA501A2 is this the one?

It seems big compared to the MK.

    Thanks!

The ones we have used up to this point is the 8M0092064
The MGA501a2 is a bigger mount. It will work but we like the other ones better

I haven’t bought a boat from SBC yet, but will give them a preference when I do. Companies that impress me the most are the ones that work harder after the sale; than for the sale.

1 of a few examples I have with SBC – Long story short, I smashed the head of my trolling motor (MK) along a sea wall in the Milw. Harbor. between a 3-4 foot wave and a ship bumper. I was very dumbfounded at a few of the prices I saw online for replacement parts. I talked to Eric, and everything went as smooth as every transaction should be. Within minutes, he emailed me a part list to compare to what I found and what he found. Few more minutes and we have a pick list. Eric quotes me a price that is 20-30% cheaper than the online sources I looked at and he included shipping. 2 days later, Speedy truck stops at my house and hands me the box. Everything is there and life is good. I SCREWED UP and missed a $.50 part that I didn’t think I needed (Eric suggested it)….gave him a call and he shot it out in the mail that day to me.
We are only talking about $25.00 in parts with shipping. Eric worked as hard, if not harder, than an $1,000.00 order. It was obvious that the margins weren’t the most important thing, getting my boat back on water and making me happy was. Great customer service waytogo

    Thanks Eric!

I was looking under mounting accessories instead of Xi5 accessories.
