You watching the weather down south? 8-12″ of snow in Little Rock, over 3″ in Dallas this is on top of the ice.

    Bizarre.

My older sister lives near Ft Worth, been 7 degrees down there, houses not designed for it (plumbing on outside walls with poor insulation). Electric heat, and rolling power outages, not to mention lines down.

    She’s loosing her mind,,,,

To think, we also considered moving to Texas at one point. Thankfully we are pretty much insulated from these deep freezes.

    Global Warming!!!!

Yep, this odd winter storm in an area that doesn’t usually get them really disproves climate change.

I have a friend in Little Rock, AR and they have 10 inches of snow. Complete shut down of the area.

The entire state of Texas was under winter storm warning. Never happened before. I compare it to the Halloween Blizzard in 91. Its something they will be talking about the rest of their lives.
I have family outside Houston (Tomball) and some have lost power, some lost water, not sure if its froze or what, but it was 7 degrees there yesterday and the only one of them that have experienced that type of cold before was the Norwegian who married a gal from Houston LOL.
He sent his wife and kids to her parents place who still had power. All he had was a gas fireplace to keep he and the dogs warm.
THey are unsure if its rolling blackouts for power or if its power lines down, etc. It seems like all their power is above ground which I think is just an accident waiting to happen especially with Hurricanes, etc. I realize its spendier to bury it, but man, the maintenance has to be far less.

Heard on the radio today Texas has their own power grid. They don’t buy any outside power. I think they said 23 out of the 26 counties in Texas were without power at some point.

We were on South Padre Island Friday – Monday. It was highs of 40-41 with rain and 25-30 mph winds all weekend. Woke up Monday with no power and everything was closed from the island all the way to the airport. We couldn’t get anything to eat and couldn’t even put gas in the rental car. We felt lucky to get on the plane out. All in all a very disappointing trip. A pretty cool place though…defiantly going back.

Generation doesn’t seem to be the issue, it is transmission. My brother is stuck in Irving with sporadic power and heat. Can’t drive since they have no snow removal or sanding equipment. Can’t work from the apartment due to no internet. He’s hoping to get to the airport tomorrow and come back up here. It’s a little colder here but at least we know how to deal with it.

My in laws lived on the golf course at Long Island in Port Isabel for 17 years. We had a blast down there, a family friend had a place in the same community in one of the canals and had a simple 16′ boat with a 50hp. We’d fish Redfish and Speckled trout in the Laguna Madre.
One year a barge hit the bridge to the island and cars went in, it was a real mess.
You’ll enjoy it with the weather it’s meant to have
