Well, after getting a Yeti Yeti Tumbler a year ago for a gift and scratching my head as to why it did not have a spill proof lid, I just got their new Magslider replacement lid. Don’t buy it if you want a truly leak proof lid. It leaks like crazy when spilled. Unbelievable Yeti. Hard to believe you missed the mark again. I have other mugs (Thermos for one) that really work for the outdoor lifestyle. Ugh!!

The slider is magnetic, I’d double check that it’s lined up right
December 29, 2017 at 7:16 am #1739231I don’t think they are intended to be spill proof. Mostly it just cuts out the splashing when walking or driving.
December 29, 2017 at 7:50 am #1739240Little unrelated but I bought a 26 oz Yeti Rambler before deer hunting as my Thermos of 25 years finally gave way. Unbelievable how hot coffee stays in that thing. Laying in the bottom of my ice shack for 4 plus hours when it -2 Tuesday it was steaming hot to the finish. Would love to try a cooler but not ready to pluck down that kind of cash yet for a cooler. Their stuff works great hot or cold but it can get pricey.
December 29, 2017 at 8:31 am #1739254From the Yeti website:
“The MagSlider™ Lid means enjoying a hot drink from our Rambler® Tumblers without worrying about spills in the cab or splashes on the go”.
Ya, not so much. Maybe only a few drips if you get to it quickly. If you’re like me and want to be able to stow your mug in a luggage bag or soft tackle box to free up your hands, or roll around in the bottom of your boat without issue, I’d search elsewhere. To each their own.
December 29, 2017 at 8:49 am #1739266Yeti sells a 5 gallon plastic bucket for $40. It’s just a plastic bucket.
Sigh…..
Anyone seen my pet rock lately?

If you’ve got this Thermos mug, you’ve got the best, most spill-proof one out there.
I’ve had one of these for 5 or 6 years and that ended the search for a GOOD thermal mug that doesn’t spill or leak.

Reinventing and up-pricing is the new new, man. You can get a new Pet Rock on Amazon, it’s only $49.99.
I just noticed it is suddenly almost impossible to find a decent all-metal flashlight for less than $40. They’ve all been upsized, more power, the flash SOS signals, they sing, they dance…
I’m still using a Maglite from like 1990.

December 29, 2017 at 9:04 am #1739283Sounds like for what you want to use it for, you need a vacuum seal thermos. These were not made for the use you are intending.
December 29, 2017 at 9:08 am #1739289Ditto on Thermos brand. Mine is 6 years old and beat to crap. Works Flawlessly. You do have to make sure it has the lid like the picture. They make one that looks similar to the Yeti Magslider that leaks like a sieve.

I can’t rip Yeti’s coolers but I can’t afford one either!
December 29, 2017 at 10:33 am #1739321I also have the Contigo brand, for the price I think they work great, I personally like the lid that slides open compared to the one that flips, neither leak and keep drinks hot for hrs, I would have no problem recommending one

Mine was so ugly and beat like a rented mule that I actually sanded it down and gave it a respray. It’s now black and all murdered out with a Tuff-coat rubberized paint GripTec finish. Probably the most badass tea-sipping device man has ever devised.
Granted, it loses a little of the badass quotient when you’re sipping tea from it, but nonetheless, still pretty badass.
