Fished Red Wing on Wednesday, turned the key to the on position for 5 seconds, then started it and again ran for about 2 seconds and then killed. Fished again at Red Wing yesterday, this time I pumped the bulb ten times and then turned the key to the on position for 5 seconds, same story, ran for 2 seconds and killed. Called Yamaha and they said to have the head mechanic at LaCannes give their service tech. a call. Will call LaCannes today and see what happens. Thanks again to everyone for their suggestions.

Definitely curious, we have had a brand new etec that would stall out at wot and it was just a kinked fuel line from factory

Sorry those ideas didn’t help. They should be able to fix it, as it really doesn’t sound normal. Hopefully it isn’t like when you have a problem with your truck, and bring it to your dealer, and they say no problem found. Had a good example of how a boat dealer should be the other day. Had to take my boat in to have something installed, and mentioned that my kicker seemed a little louder the last time out trolling. I told them it was probably just my imagination, but asked if they could look at it. I also gave them a sample of the oil that I drained out, incase they thought it needed to be tested. They fired it up and ran it till it got warm. It was quiet as can be. That would have been good enough for me, but they didn’t stop there, next they pulled the plugs to check them, then ran a compression test, just to be sure. That’s great service, and what I’ve come to expect from my dealer. Hope you had a good time fishing. I’m done till next spring.

Kicker was fine, they said some times when starting the kicker, without pumping the bulb, there will be a knocking sound, and its actually the fuel pump. Haven’t pumped my kicker primer bulb in a long time, it just starts. When running at the shop, it was quiet as could be, so that’s probably what I herd.
