    Hello all,

I’ve been digging here and on the Kodiak forums before posting, and I can’t find a picture anywhere of a Yamaha Kodiak or Grizzly with an Otter (Rhino) Monster Box installed.

I am building my 2018 Kodiak for ice fishing, and I am very hesitant on pulling the trigger on the purchase of an otter monster box without seeing how it looks on same Model of ATV first. I’m scared it will be to big. I see plenty of pics of Polaris Sportsmans, a snowmobile, a Kawasaki Brute force with a OMB installed.

If anyone has this set up would you mind posting a image please.

    Thank you.

I have a 750 Suzuki King Quad with a monster box on it. It’s big but the way it’s designed you wouldn’t have anything else !!

    Thanks for posting!

Do you feel it hangs over the back to much? I really want to get one for hole hopping on the Mississippi backwaters.

Nope. I have it so it just clears the seat release. Works great up here. Nice to lean back to rest.

2016 Grizzly 700, I did end up cranking my rear suspension up 1 notch to account for the added weight on the back. I love it, I have the rodbox and bucket holder attachments for the sides.

Thank you, I was thinking I would have to adjust the suspension for the added weight. I appreciate the heads up!

I know I have a Suzuki but I did the exact thing Joe did and I have those attachments also. Not sure how the rack is on a Yamaha but my Monster Box has a built in channel that runs all the way across to accommodate for the part of the rack on my Suzuki that is straight up and down. The Monster Box sits on top of that perfectly and has the correct clearance for the gas tank and getting my seat off. Also enough room for the wife to seat behind me.

For the yamaha’s, you install the box so you have just enough room to be able to pop the seat off, everything aligns perfectly then…

2018 Kodiak. Fits fine. Like other said, just place it so you can pop the seat off.

27″ Maxxis Zillas (They actually run a little smaller than 27″) fit perfectly with no chance of rubbing, I love them and they are lighter than similar sized tires. Just note that they can eat up your grass yard a bit in the summer time if you turn sharply when going slow… They just eat up the snow though…

Perfect I’m looking at new tires and my originals are 26s so these should work fine. The Yamahas and the Suzuki’s look very similar in style it seems.

I purchased off ebay with the rims mounted, (Several different reputable company sellers) they were by far the best price anywhere with free shipping, nobody else was even close price wise…arrived with no damage.

Big red storm, very nice set up there. How far back from the back of the seat do you have it mounted?

I leave the tracks on all year. I will measure how far back the box sits on Thursday.

just set it ontop of the rack and move it around to make sure you have the proper clearances needed before marking your drill holes. I can’t remember what the instructions said (up or down) but I chose to have the bolts come up through the underside, I then used larger flat washers to distribute the force pressure better, then ground the bolt heads down and put on rubber covers. I finally cut a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet to match exact outline of the otter box inside floor. Works great, and the front portion of the bottom hump perfectly fits some plastic bins I have for tools that don’t move around inside. I also got a few free plastic garage floor tile samples online that fit perfectly inside between the hump and the back walls to give a little more protection. Lastly I glued several sections of velcro to the interior walls to stick up those little harbor freight LED lights when needed. IMO the side attachment rod holder is the most important piece of the system, it’s so nice to keep the rods out of the fish house to save space, there’s even a mod to make the rodcase open from the otterbox side and make a workable shelf..

I went to the otter website, and didn’t see the side attachment rod holder, where did you find them? I will search Reeds, and Scheels.

Thanks again for the input, I will do the same for attaching to the ATV, I was thinking marine carpet for the bottom, as I have a few yards extra at home. I was thinking of using 3M industrial strength command strips for some LED lighting.

I got all of my Otter Monster box stuff at Runnings in Monticello, MN, perhaps Otter isn’t making them anymore? In just now looking at Otter’s website it looks like they only sell the Case Mount bracket…perhaps you could attach that on a other brand rodbox? The old style Otter rodbox I think is discontinued now, they are highly sought after on the used market if you can find one…Come to think of it, that Mount Bracket might be something good to get and then modify whatever you want to attach to it…my mind is churning now…
