Yamaha digital guages

I figured this is the best place to ask a Yamaha question. A friend just bought a new boat with the digital gauges that his old eyes have a hard time seeing while driving. Can he link the motor to his garmin locator if he buys the cable to link into the network for the motor readouts, or because the motor already has the digital gauges is that port already being used on the motor so it would be an either or thing?

You should be able to run both of them at the same time with the adapter.
