Yamaha 90Horse VMax trolling

    I’m in the market for a 17ft aluminum lund. Will this motor troll down to 2.0 for this boat or is a 90 to big? I am a troller and don’t want to mess with a kicker or the trolling motor.

    You’ll likely have to “mess” with socks or a plate.

    A 115hp Optimax with the bowmount down (just to create drag, not running) will push my 17′ boat at anywhere from 1.8-2.2 most days depending on wind and wave action. With a heavy chop 1.5mph is achievable without the bowmount even down.

    I had a 18’ pro v with 90 Yamaha no problem getting 1.5. You should be ok.
