Yamaha 9.9 Question

Quick question for the more tech savvy guys.

When running my Yamaha 9.9 remote/electric start kicker I routinely see 15.1 volts on the graphs and also test 15.1-15.2 at the battery with a multimeter…..

A large draw pulls it down (pumps, spreader lights, etc), but it will eventually bump way back up after shutting off the draw.

I asked the old owner if he ever saw voltage that high, but he said he never paid attention (didn’t have the voltage displayed) and his last set of batteries lasted 9 or 10 seasons???? It’s read high since I bought it this winter.

I’m worried about damaging my batteries (AGM), but even after hours of reading 15.1 volts they show no sign of overheating (feel cool).

Do any of you guys see voltage that high? I’ve had a couple Pro Kickers in the past and never saw anything even close to what this Yammy is kicking out.

The kicker is a 2001. Normal? Bad rectifer? Install an aftermarket voltage regulator?

Your meter working correctly? Cheapos can go bad quick, just a thought.

It’s reading right, and all my graphs in the boat show the same.

With the main motor running I’ll see up to 14.1 on plane, never more.

The kicker is routinely a full volt higher….
