Why would my 40hp Yamaha four stroke Motor be smoking while running and driving? Its got less then 100 hours on motor on it the oil is not low it’s not cutting out or anything it’s running fine just smoking a lil not bad but definitely smoking.It’s been while taken care of not run hard.
How old? could be too much oil in it.
sometimes They will “make”oil.
I would start with an oil change. If it still smokes you’ll have to bring it in to see where the damage is.

Did you foam the cylinders last fall when you winterized it? If so, that will take a bit to burn off and that could be the smoke you are seeing. That shouldn’t last more that 5-10 minutes though.
Was it cold out? under 45 degrees mine looks like it is smoking just the exhaust also You need to tilt the motor up let set for 5 minutes then put down level to check oil big difference I had to much in mine the first oil change hope this helps.
