I thought I’d put this out here and give the IDO guys the first crack at it for a day or so before it hits Marketplace and Craigslist. This is the cleanest and lowest-use little Yamaha that’s ever found its way to my shop and the owner has asked me to sell it for him.
Yamaha 4-stroke outboard. Model F4MLHZ. Manufactured 3/2001.
For sale is this near-mint LONG SHAFT 4 HP Yamaha outboard. Measures 22.5 inches from bottom of the transom bracket to the top of the anti-cavitation plate. Yes, this is a 4 stroke, so there is no mixing gas and oil. This motor shows almost no signs of actual on-water use, there are only minor blemishes from storage. Overall very, very good condition.
This outboard starts easily and runs perfectly from idle to full throttle. Everything works as it should, forward and reverse work flawlessly. Prop in perfect shape, not even a scratch on the skeg. The outboard has an onboard fuel tank and also included is the OEM 3-gallon Yamaha external fuel tank. Sorry, no fuel hose, but this is readily available on the internet.
Happy to test-tank run it for a serious buyer.
This outboard is as close to a zero-hour outboard as you will find on the used market. A older gentlemam brought this to me, it had been stored at the family cabin laying on the wrong side and oil drained into the intake and into the carb. A good carb cleaning has her back running perfectly and the owner has asked me to sell it for him.
The current Yamaha list price on this outboard is over $1,500, plus tax.
