Year at a glance Lures- or whatever that worked.
Did well late season with suspended stick baits. Spinners did well early as usual. Surface stuff not as good. Jigs were ok. Good year for bass overall but not as good as last year.

We had a great bass season with the same baits we throw on a normal year. Jigs caught big fish, nekos drop shots wackys caught numbers. Biggest fish of the season was on a neko in the deep weeds.

This year sucked for me. May fishing was OK but below average. June was well below average; If I remember correctly, wind and rain/thunder were a PITA so that I couldn’t get out consistently. For July, I was bedridden with a bad back for 2/3rds of the month, but when I got back out, fishing was good. August was a struggle because I didn’t find any schools, or if I did, they were one trip and disappeared. In September, bass snatching got even more difficult, and by October, I was kind of burnt out on how crappy the bite was and only took 5 trips in the boat, last year I took 16 trips in the boat in October. I caught under 200 fish on frogs and toads this year, or about the same number as I caught on just a Snagproof Bobby’s Perfect Frog in 23.

The only lure got hot for me was a Z-Man Turbo FattyZ swimming worm before the rice got unfishable. It was my top producer this year with 153 bass caught.

Amazing how much stuff can change year to year.
Anytime I fish a toppie I know their is a bout a 90% chance something else like a jig will catch more fish, but I put it on because the strike is a blast & you have a shot at a big fish, probably how you feel about frog lures. Happy Turkey Day.
