Xi5

Can’t find what electronics this thing would be compatible with. A thread week ago or so had the Gen2 Lowrance or better was, would like to confirm.

Is the Hook Gen 2?

Or any recommendation’s that would pair nicely with the Xi5? Keeping it under $1500, with the maps.

Gen 2 and better. I have HDS7 Gen2 Touch screen – works great.

Lowrance (with the Gateway and all necessary hardware) plugs directly into it if you want them networked. If you are talking about using the built-in transducer only, again the Lowrance plugs directly into it, but there are adapter cables available (for a fee) for just about every make of sonar out there.

The Hook is not a gen 2
Gen 1,2,3 are only related to HDS units as far as I know. I could be wrong but doubt it on this question.
I also could be wrong but I believe the Xi5 is compatible with Lowrance units as long as they are HDS systems only

To work with the Gateway kit you need NMEA2000, which only the HDS units have. Even at that, only the HDS Gen 2 and above are compatible with using the “gateway” functions meaning controlling the unit from your Lowrance display.
This does NOT mean you cannot hook up some other lowrance unit to the xi5 sonar, etc. You will still have all of the other functions of the xi5, creating routes, replaying routes, anchor, etc. You just cannot do them from the display unit unless you have an HDS Gen 2 or newer.

At this point I need to fish. Not for fishing sake, but to figure out the new to me boat. All things considered I’m relatively inexperienced in bigger rigs and dont want to invest thousands I may regret having something else, say a cheaper TM on the bow with nice vantage on the back.

Think I’ll start with a cheap helix 7SI to start, figure things out then can move that to the front or back, and get the nice Gen2 for console, but then who knows maybe ill really like having the gen 2 in back by vantage or up front if the case, hell I don’t know at this point. Might not need gateway at all and go helix 9-10

And from the Xi5 standpoint I need to see how well the boat motor handles loads. Really would like to get the 105# 36v system in there for the river, know it has the room for them.
