Is a 72″ shaft trolling motor necessary? Will a 60″ be sufficient? I do not plan on fishing when the boat looks like a see-saw going up and down.

In my opinion the 72″ shaft was more necessary on the 2017 and older WX models. The 2018 and newer WX2060 and WX2200’s sit lower in the water and you can get by with a 60″ shaft in most conditions.

I have a 2014 WX 2060. I put a 72” Ulterra on it last year. I am very happy with it. You could probably get by with a 60” especially if you aren’t going to fish when it is rough. When we were on Lake of the Woods a couple of weeks ago there was a few times my 72” cavitated but the waves were rolling pretty good that day. And we were able to vertical jig in one spot the whole day. The waves were big enough that a few of them splashed over the bow.

On a 2190 yes, WX 2200 60 is just fine for me anyway.
