WX2060….what if

I have a WX2060 and like many on here I try to get the best possible performance I can from it. I truly love my boat and my only real complaint is that it isn’t rated for a 300. Now in my perfect world what kind of performance do you think could be achieved in a WX2060 w/ a Yamaha 300 and a jack plate? I know you can get 58+ mph with the 250/jackplate/good prop so I’m just curious how much better it could be with the 300. I’m really tired of those yarcrafts running away! Thanks

Just a guess but an extra 2MPH sounds about right.

I think 60-62 would be about right.

I think skeeter 20 is about in I figure similar to the Mx 2025.

The new 250HP VMax SHO is said to push almost as much HP as the 300 offshore so I don’t think it would be a whole lot of difference. Don’t quote me on exact figures as this is second hand information, but I’ve heard rumblings about them being within 15-20 HP of each other.

If you’re really looking for increased speed out of the WX2060 (besides what can be achieved with a jack plate and prop work), get the hull blueprinted to take some of the hook out of the stern and that thing would really move.

I know on the MX the 250 SHO is around 2mph slower then the 300 Offshore. Same prop. Like Justin said I have heard the SHO is putting out closer to 270hp?

On my dads 2060 Offshore 250 with jackplate we are seeing same mph or better then guys with the SHO.

I sure miss the days of mid 60’s but on the flip side them boats didn’t fish or run in big water as well as my 2190. To me 58-60 with tournament load would be ideal. Guys can say there boat does over 60 but come game day they must be dragging something cause I’ll pass them at 56-57 lol.

This past weekend was the first time I had the opportunity to run my 2060 in rough water and I was truly impressed. In a 20+ mph headwind blowing right up the gut I was able to keep the speed in the low 50s and still drink a cup of coffee without spilling.

The 2060 and 2190 might not be the fastest boat in perfect conditions but I find it hard to believe that any boat will run away from it in rough conditions.

Guys, we run walleye boats that have hull weights of 2500lbs give or take. I had my new WX2060 out on delivery run, and with 2 fat guys, full livewell and a motor with 3 hours I hit 56.2mph in a 1′ chop on Erie. Wow, that impressed the crap out of me. Just the little bit of testing I did by running into, with, and across the waves. Prop seems about right, of course I will be trying some others (my hot rods float now). Oh, and did I say dry! I think any 20’+ walleye boat that runs 55+ mph is doing pretty well. That is pretty cool info on the sho being closer to 270hp. Ain’t America great, we have $70,000 rigs, that run great and we are trying to improve them, cause we can!
