WX2060 rod holder

The UPS man delivered my rod rack yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. I am mounting it on the plate that slides into the ski tow bar bracket so it is also removable for when I don’t need it. This set up will make my trolling rods a lot happier while running the lake. Let me know what you think!

I think it is a good idea. I use something kinda-sorta similar from Cabelas called the Quick Stow which slides into one of my seat bases on the back deck of my MX 2025. The Quick Stow allows me to store 8 trolling rods vertically (Shimano Compre Rods + Tekota Reels) which keeps them from getting banged around and they’re handy when it comes time to deploy lines.

Note – The Quick Stow I use doesn’t have the wonky Scotty rod holder sticking out the top.

Once the lines are deployed I move the Quick Stow to the seat base at the bow which never has a butt seat in the base when I’m on big water trolling. For me it has proven to be a pretty slick system.

I also built a wood base that holds the Quick Stow upright in my garage when I’m not fishing so moving all 8 rods into the boat and back into the garage couldn’t be easier.

Yeah James I had considered that in the past but in the 2060 I would have had to use one of the rear seat bases (floor) and I wanted the floor wide open to move around while trolling and to be honest I wouldn’t want to be moving it back and forth for ease of use when I got to my spot. It does seem like you system works good for you though!

I had mine made from a guy in Wisconsin. If you were to google MODOG’s runnin’ rod racks he comes right up. We talked back and forth to figure out the best way to do this on my boat and the step/plate that goes into the ski pole bracket worked best. He is very good to work with and I couldn’t be happier. If anyone would like his contact info I’d be happy to help.

Dean is coming out to fish a tournament with me this summer so he will be able to check it out first hand if it’s something you would be interested in.

I am sure Dean will have a few questions. That was the direction I was going. Thanks for the info!

I actually installed it this weekend and went for a run on the water to see how I liked it. To be honest I really loved having it back there for my rods. Here is a quick picture I took on the water and please excuse the mess!

Do you have any pics of how it mounts? I had looked into having him make one for my boat and he said the the skeeter had a lip to mount it to, and mine didn’t look to have one so he wasn’t sure how it would mount. Looking at pictures of the livewell on a 2060, it looks pretty much identical to my Stratos.

I think our livewell setups are similar between the two boats. On my boat I have a ski pylon bracket mounted into the back wall and besides the ski pylon there is also a step that can slide into it. I used that step to mount my rack into so it is also removeable. Here are a couple pictures of the bracket but I don’t have one showing the step attached to the back of the rod rack.

If I didn’t have the ski pylon bracket I would have done it like this drawing I have. I’m not sure what I would make the tabs out of but I would think 3 tabs coming off the back of the rod rack setting on the lip under the livewell lid would also work. I’d think you could adjust the livewell latch to still have a snug fit over the brackets which I’d think would be no more than 1/8″ thick.

Thanks. The pictures tie it all together.

Sorry for the dumb question but would the livewell lid hold the tabs in place? Or are you screwing it in place? Thanks

It would need to be screwed into the fiberglass.
