I don’t have any experience with this combo YET but my best guess as of right now is going to be the 19p reliance as a place to start.
March 28, 2016 at 9:00 am #1609742Go to Mercury prop selector site. Type in all your info and it will give a prop recommendation. Its not only for Mercury—- I have a 150 Yamaha and it was pretty accurate on the pitch. I bought a Yamaha Reliance 19p. Its does a nice job on my 1800 pro v.

Thanks, so this would be a 14 1/14 19 pitch?

The reliance is a 13 3/4″ x 19p
March 29, 2016 at 8:34 am #1610054So what would be the difference in performance between a reliance 14-1/4 x 18p and a 13-3/4 x 19p? Kind of lost when it comes to props? Thanks for the help.
March 29, 2016 at 8:47 am #1610061the 18p is going to be able to get higher rpms with the same motor than the 19p will. You will want to be as close to 6k rpms as possible to get max performance out of the boat and motor combo.
March 29, 2016 at 9:01 am #1610068Ok, I didn’t know what the difference in diameter had to do with it. The boat came with the 14-1/4 18p. Only have a couple hours on the motor so haven’t ran it wide open for more than a few seconds but wasn’t very impressed with top end. Just me in the boat and around 45mph and 5700rpms. But like I said I didn’t run it that hard for more then 10 or 15 seconds. Thanks for the help.
March 30, 2016 at 2:40 pm #1610442The 14-1/4 18p is likely the right prop.
You would only want to go up to a 19p if you can over rev the 18p.
Don’t change anything until you finish breaking in your motor. You will likely get a few more MPH when you can run a wide open for a longer time and adjust the trim.March 30, 2016 at 2:46 pm #1610445If your 14-1,4 x 18p is an SDS prop in near perfect condition, I’ll trade you for a new 13-3/4 x 19 p SDS. I also have a used 13-3/4 x 19p non-SDS that I will trade for an 18p.
If we live close enough to each other.March 30, 2016 at 7:41 pm #1610496Trim has a lot to do with top end. On my 1880 if I run the trim too high at mid range it will porpoise, but if I run full throttle and then trim up I can run a higher trim and pick up 2-3mph on the top end.
May 5, 2016 at 2:10 pm #1617565Anyone run this combo yet. Getting 46 to 47mph and 5800 to 6000 rpms. Hole shot is great, do you think I should try the 19p? Just me in the boat and full tank of gas running the 18p.

If this is the way you will run the boat most of the time and not a lot on big water, then sure, I would give the 19 pitch a shot.
Disclaimer. I have never run an 1850 w/ the SHO.

I don’t think you will see much better specs than that. About the only thing I might do is if you plan to use it with 2-4 people, full fuel and full livewells “MOST” of the time you might actually look into a 17p.
If you fish alone a lot or with just one other person, you wont find a much better prop than what you have on there now.May 6, 2016 at 8:35 am #1617683Ok thanks, I was thinking with the SHO I would see a little more speed. Like I said hole shot and mid range is very good though for a 150.
