Skeeter11- My pro series is stock.

LOW Angler- All you need to do is drop the motor down to the top hole. Its a 10-15min job. Loosen the bottom bolts, remove the top ones lower and install the bolts. Obviously you will want to get a motor lifting lug.

I would see if he has a 20.5 or 21 bravo. From what guys are seeing its been good results on them. I would first drop the motor and run the saltwater to get a better base line.

19 pitch Rev 4 all the way for your hole shot and mid range. I have seen 54.5 mph with this prop stock. Reworked I ha e seen lttle over 56. These are optimum conditions

Skeeter 20..I dropped it to the top hole. I’ll have it in the pond tomorrow! I’ll let u know how it works. What fuel economy did u get on your 20 sw2 at around 32-34 Rs?

I have a new 2190/with 300 yamaha as well as 9.9 kicker. The delivered prop is salt water2, 20/15. With full fuel, 3 adults and a average load of gear. engine on 3rd hole from top on 8″ factory jack plate

The wot is 5600 and 53/54 on the GPS. Hole shot is bad, I can only get the trim just to half and I blow out on plane or in a turn. At 3300 I get 30 mph in calm winds. Only 28 in any headwind.
    Fuel economy is 3.9 mpg
I need good hole shot, good economy at 30 mph (that’s the speed my partner’s prefer to run). I also need more bow lift and good control/handing/ fuel economy in the rough
water/short waves we have on LOW. I have always run 4 blades on all my past tin boat’s. Is the Rev4 my best choice? What pitch? Very much appreciate the voice of experience!

    I’m curious.
What fuel economy are you expecting ?
I get 4.8 to 5.5 mpg at cruising speed depending on conditions with my MX1825/f150. 4 mpg from a WX2190/f300 seems reasonable.

Appreciate the comment. Not sure what economy to expect. I have the engine down and hope to get more trim b/4 blowout. That should help with economy.

Exactly. Blowing your prop out is wasting rpms and decreasing your efficiency. Lowering your engine will definately help all around performance. Keep us posted.

Don’t have the new prop yet. Talked to Mercury props last week. 2 weeks from order to make the prop. Should have it end of this week or beginning of the following week. Leave for Canada on the 16th and would like to have it to play with up there. Will give me a chance to work with it and the plugs to see if it is the correct prop for the way my boat is rigged.

The most I can get for mpg is 4-4.2. What I really like is getting 3.5mpg close to 45mph. I have a lot of buddies with 20′ tillers and 200vrods, we are usually within a gallon of each other when making the same trip.

Skeeter 11 & 20..u have been great advice and help. I dropped the 300 down from the third hole to the very top hole. Went out fishing today with full fuel, 3 total folks.. and the canvas top up. I had the 20-sw-2 on. It was amazing, the hole shot was very good. The engine ran so freely no lugging and the left turn steering effort was vastly easier. Best yet it ran 54.5 @ 5800. I got trim to just under full trim and no blowout!! The tail was a good six feet high. When running at 3300 I was at 29.5/30 mph..again top up. At 3300 the burn rate was 4.2 mpg. Can’t thank you enough.. it’s truly a good performer now. yay

That’s awesome!!! Happy for ya. I do have a question though. Whem you say you dropped down from the 3rd hole to the very top hole I am trying to visualize this. Can you take a picture of it amd send it? I want to see if your setting is where I think it is.

The engine was delivered with the mounting on the jack plate in the third hole from the top hole. I dropped it down(lowered it) to the very top mounting hole in the jack plate. I will try and get a photo and attach it.

Perfect thanks Low. Do you have the hydraulic jake plate or just the blue 8″ set back where you manually adjust between holes?

Awesome to hear LOW!! Dropping the motor to the top is a must in my opinion. I think with the top off and not as much weight you will see 56 all day now. Try running full trim and drop the jackplate until you lose speed. Ideally your roost shouldn’t be higher then the top of the motor.

Skeeter11 – LOW has a jackplate. The motor from the factory is mounted in the 3rd hole down(on the motor). Simply lowered the motor 2 holes to the top. There is only one set of mounting holes on the jackplate itself to mount the motor too.

Update, just got word that my new Bravo 1 LT 20.5 has been backordered and ship date is now pushed back into end of next week. Hopefully will come Thursday, so I can run it in Canada, highly unlikely though. Will update when it finally shows up.

Got the prop and went to put it on. The flo torque kit that the computer says for the prop pushes the prop out so that the cotter pin hole was not even showing. Those that have run the Braco 1 prop. What kit did you use with the prop?

Picture of the kit I got. I stopped at 2 different dealers in the way up north and they said it appears to be correct according to the computer.

Kevin.. I have found the 20 sw2 is not the prop when I put 4 or 5 adults. The hole shot and porpoising is hard to manage. The local dealer took a 21 bravo 1 F’s off a new engine and said to try it. He wanted me to pop out all the plugs. Now to your question.
I purchased the same hub kit u show..I just finished putting the prop on this afternoon and the kit fit the bravo fs. What concerned me was the instructions show and say for use on a Yamaha to put the hub
bushing on..but none is in the box. Did your kit have the bushing?
Sorry for the long message..it is a question on using the 21, as well as responding to your question.

Kevin maybe this is a dumb question but don’t you have a 300 yamaha offshore? That kit says 150/200/250.

I do have a 300 offshore. I thought the same thing. One of the dealers I stopped at had the exact same kit except his tag included the 300 on it also. Left a voicemail for Scott at Mercury props and will hopefully here from him today.

Can you take a picture of the thrust washer?? Side and on top. That is what is keeping the prop from seating all the way. Someone may have returned the kit and it has the wrong thrust washer in it??

I will look at yours and see if it seems to be the same. Did you seat the hub good inside the prop? The black hun needs to be seated in the prop you.might gain 1/2″ to 1″ after seating the hub. Just checking…

What ended up being the best midrange, mileage and hole shot prop to use? I need a prop for lifting the 2190 with a heavy load, have ample power when climbing a wall of water and deliver better fuel economy that a TURBO 20″ prop.

My best midrange had been the 19 pitch Rev 4. I had it reworked a little bit. Does well with hole shot, top end best is 54 to 56 depending on wind. I also have the 20.5 pitch LT Bravo which was good late last fall. I added the edge plate hydrofoil what a difference!

I am still looking. Ended up sticking with the Yamaha 19 pitch saltwater. I tried a 20.5 pitch Bravo LT. Hole shot was good, but would blow out when steering. I am going to meet Ricky up in Brainard this spring and run some different props same day and same conditions. I am guessing I will end up with either a 20 pitch Bravo LT or a 17 pitch Rev 4 that has been worked. The Yamaha 18 pitch saltwater is also an option.
