I bought a 2190 at the end of last summer and the previous owner never put a kicker on the boat. Im going to be putting the T9.9 tiller steer on it. Im curious how many guys are running the 25in shaft on there 2190? I always thought the 20in shaft was more of a standard for these style boats. My local dealer is telling me I wont be happy with the 20in shaft because it comes out of the water when it starts to get rough? They also stated they have had several guys not happy with the 20 and switch to the 25. Whos running what and what are the pros and cons to each?

What is your downside to running a 25″?

Honestly the only thing i could think of was maybe it wouldn’t trim high enough out of the water. Hate to see that thing bashing around back there coming in and out of the water if it was a little rougher while on plane?

Personally I would go with my dealers recommendation unless you have a specific reason it wouldn’t work for you. Maybe ask your dealer if within x amount of time you aren’t happy with a 25″ you can exchange it for a 20″.

I have power tilt- but there is zero ‘bashing around’ I can tell you that. Doesn’t wiggle.

Is this with the 25in shaft?

I will also be going with the power trim.

I think your best advice will come from the guys at SBC. They live, eat and breath this stuff.

Was hoping one of them would chime in. I know they sell alot more of these rigs than my local dealer does.

I would go with the 25″ It will trim up far enough to be out of the water while running.

I run a warrior 208 with 25” shaft kicker I would not run a 20” on my boat wouldn’t get deep enough. 2190 is a different boat obviously but I would go 25” if I was you.

Yep that is the issue. The shorter shaft doesn’t get down deep enough to get the thrust under the keel when back trolling. It can also cavitate when trolling forwards fast.
