Has anyone mounted the big stucture scan transducer in the recessed area on the transom of the wx 2060 or Mx 2040? That looks like the perfect spot, out of the way, below the other transom mounted transducers, below and away from the main motor and kicker, mounted up out of the way of debris under the boat.

The dealer I purchased my rig from said they had very good luck installing the down/side scan ducer under the step when we were in the rigging stages. So I have had zero problems with it there. I run a 12 and 9 hds gen 2 touches.

I have a WX2060 on order and should be in the first week of March and here is what I am going to do. The boat is coming with the HDS12 and I am also mounting a Helix 10 on the Dash with the HDS12. I am going to use a DI transducer on the trolling motor for the Helix. I am going to mount the Hummingbird SI transducer and the Lowrance 3D structure scan on Stern Saver mounts. The Si transducer is going to be a little tricky because the mount for the SI is only setup for vertical mounting but I think that I got that figured out. The Lowrance skimmer transducer and all the other items that need to be mounted on the back of the boat will also be on a Stern Saver. The cables will be held in place via 3M self stick cable holders. There will no holes drilled in the boat if I can help it.

I have a 2060. My dealership told me that is your running surface to never run anything on there.

I was going to mount them in the upper part of the step at above the drain plugs just like the above pictures. The only difference is that they will screwed to Stern Savers. Stern Savers are glued to the boat. The Structure Scan transducer can be mounted either way. In the picture above the gentleman has the wire of the transducer towards the front of the boat, he could have mount the transducer the other way around and the switched the orientation in the HDS setups. Thanks for responding.

    Ryan,
I see that hdi transducer is awfully close to the strake. Does that interfere with marking fish when running say 20-30 mph? Also, with your SC Tranducer mounted at the top of the recess, does recess interfere with side scan at all? I am signing papers on the WX2060 in the morning, then meeting with the riggers on Monday morning. Exciting times!

I run at cruising speed (25-30 mph) watching to find harder bottom. I usually am not at cruising speed looking for fish. I do get interference when I get up in the 40s mph.

When I am looking for fish on sonar and down scan I typically running 5-8 mph. I never get any interference using the LSS 2 transducer. I have a Fish Hawk transducer on the port side of the boat as well. Going up to 3 mph I never get any interference on the Fish Hawk as well. Good Luck with your rigging. It is a great time! Any questions I will be down this Thursday if you want to take a look how we rigged ours.

I run 25-30 mph watching for suspended fish marks. Once spotted i slow down to take a better look at them to see if worth fishing or just move on. My plan is to put a transom saver between the livewell/baitwell intakes and mount my LSSC transducer to that, then another transom saver on the starboard side and mount my HDI transducer to that.
Where bouts are you staying? Bite is on from the islands to Lorain.
