I am new to the forum. I joined because I am seriously considering a Skeeter for my next boat. But, I am having a tough time finding information on the WX2060. I have settled on a 20′ rig because of storage, can’t get a 2190 in my pole barn. What is the opinion of you owners on the boats ability to handle big water? I fish Erie 90% of the time, and need a boat that handles the conditions that you find on Erie. How does this boat handle 2′-4′ waves? The boat looks like it is a dream to fish out of with that REACT keel, just curious on opinions of getting from point A to B? Thanks guys.

I pulled the trigger on a new WX 2060 this passed spring. I fish walleye and salmon with a little musky and smallmouth mixed in. 90% of my time is on Green Bay and Lake Michigan. On the Green Bay side i have fished in 2-4 footers with no problem. You can go as fast as you want over the top of the waves. The water goes out to the sides. The React Keel is great. Keeps the boat going straight. Been caught out in 4-5 footers and had no problem getting back to the launch. Now Green Bay has much more of a “chop” where the Lake side has a roller if a south or north wind. The boat has handled more wind then I usually like to fish in. Good luck with your decision. I will be down to Erie first week of May if you need a test ride and if you hold out that long!!

Great, I am based out of Newark, Ohio. My wife and I have a cottage in Huron, Ohio. I start in right after ice out. Give me a holler and I can at least tell you where I have been fishing. Can you fish 5 guys out of that boat comfortably? I bring customers from work and do some guiding as well. Once in a while I have an extra show up to go fishing and normally tell them no. I run a StarCraft 2050STX now and there is just not enough seating. I like those jump seats a lot if they are actually big enough to sit in. What is your opinion on tackle storage? Being a Musky guy, I am sure you carry your fair share. Also, how many rod setups can you get in your front deck rod locker? How about the side locker, can you get 6-trolling rods in there (8′ rods with Diawa SG27’s)? Do you run any suspension seats, and do you feel you need them? Thanks for the info.

As far as storage it has lots of storage. The port side compartment in the bow you can fit in. The side compartments in the fiberglass hold 2 plano boxes each side. Under the flip up seats in the rear hold 3 boxes each. One project this winter is to take out the compartment box under the lid and make a box to hold more then 3. I have enough tackle in the boat to chase salmon in the morning then switch to eyes in the afternoon.

As far as the flip up seats, I love them. Four guys in the boat only 2 seats on the dance floor. Stand up, flip the seats down and start fishing. Lots of room for trolling or casting. As far as fishing with 5 people, I have only trolled with 5 people, 2 times. It was a little tight but very doable. Not bad. One person on bow all the time when trolling. Only threw in one extra seat, so once we start fishing that seat went up into the bow and had the dance floor open.

I can fit (6) tekota 500 in the side compartment locker and 9-10 trolling rods set up for salmon, Mixed bag of magda 30s to tekota 800 rods and reels in bow rod locker. When salmon fishing I run a spread of 12 lines. 3 lines per person in WI. So I always have about 15 rods and reels in boat. With all setups in rod lockers.

Dont have suspension seats. Do you need them. Of course you can have them. Any boat would be better with them. They would be great. No need just have to slow it down without. But I have been spending my money on rods and reels and one more hds 9. Any more questions just ask.
    Good Luck

    Ryan,
did your boat come with a jack plate or set back plate? I see the 2016 boat comes standard with an 8″ sb plate, or opt hyd jack plate. Also, did you get the 250 off shore? What kind of performance are you getting? I am not as concerned with top end as I am with rough water handling. Just curious, how much time do you spend on the bow of the boat? I like to jig eyes in the spring, and fish smallmouth all year. Can you fish 2 guys on the front deck? We have some of the best smallmouth fishing in the country where I am at, either at Erie or St. Clair. Take care
    thanks

When I purchased my boat, Skeeter was not offering a jack plate on the 2060.

I have the 250 offshore and love it. The electronic throttle is great. The yammy loves to breathe. I can run 6000 rpms, 55-55.5 mph with 2 guys & loaded with 2 foot waves or under with the motor trimmed up 3/4 or better. 4 guys still over 52 mph. Can run 28-35 mph 3-4 footers and not pound the boat at all. Usually the motor isnt trimmed to much. Keeps the bow from bouncing.

You will not have any problems fishing 2 guys up front. You will need a net, since it is a wx it is off the water a little bit. I have casted for skis with 2 guys up front and one in the back no problem. Jigging for eyes too.
