Not being critical or anything but there are huge differences between a reata/solera style boat and a WX/fishing style boat. I think you should narrow down exactly what features and handling characteristics you want to refine your search a little. Those two styles of boats will handle nothing alike. Like apples to oranges. It’s going to be expensive so there’s no point in settling on something that isn’t exactly what you want.

I haven’t been around any of them , from what I under stand the WX is more fishing style oriented deeper V with jump seats , while the other two are more family ski oriented but still very capable fishing machines . No bow cushions in the WX vs the other two . The reatas have the same hull as the angler series , which I don’t think is as deep as V as the WX but in my mind was at least close or still a great fishing platform . The old reatas seem closer to the water but I thought that was the older series . Maybe I’m wrong here / care to elaborate the huge differences ?

I’ve never been in a reata but many 600 series rangers. Just the way they sit on the water is very noticeable. When I was talking to a Ranger salesman a few weeks back I asked him how a 20 foot angler stacked up against a 620 because I like the layout of the angler way better and he said the angler doesn’t ride, fish or feel near as solid as their fisherman series. Why the ever quit making the “c” series fisherman’s is beyond me but that’s a different topic. I fish with a few guys that have WX boats and they are incredible, just rock solid and safe feeling especially with trim tabs. My best suggestion is try to look at some on the water, if you don’t fish big water maybe it won’t matter to you but if you do you want a hull that has a bow up look and attitude on the water. Another thing to consider is what brand of motor you want. Ranger usually means merc and skeeter is yamaha.

The guys I fish with that have skeeters also said that when they came out with that react keel that was a game changer. Not sure if the solera series has that or not. Might be something else to research

I went with a Solera 205 with a kicker. I’d call it ~90% fishing and ~10% recreation. Removable pads up in the bow for lounging, standard bimini top included, and a ski pole. I’ve fished all kinds of water and fish including Feburary and late fall P2 and haven’t had an issue. I expect in the WX series you have more storage, but the Solera isn’t too bad.

I’m biased because I’ve never been in one but I hate the idea of the rear bump outs of a ranger 600 series .

Yep I’d never even consider one just for that reason. They made the “c” series for a few years that didn’t have them though but those are about impossible to find. Another thing I thought about that might be worth mentioning is if you have little kids be aware of the depth of the bow if they like to play up there. I’m not sure what a reata or solera is like but I know in the WX’s, the 20’+ ones the floor sits very high so there’s not much depth there. Awesome for fishing but probably not friendly if little kids are playing up there. The best thing you can do is try to track someone down weather it’s a friend or a friend of a friend, a neighbors friend or whatever and try them to see what fits you, preferably on a windy day.

I have fished in them and I hate the bump outs.

Since the OP mentioned used boats, the WX1910 had a complete hull redesign at one point in time to be aware of. You can look up specs but there was a large jump in price with the current design.

If you are looking for approx. 18′ boat I would consider the Yarcraft 186. If you like the interior layout this a great hull.

I think the hull change was like 2013’ish, for the big ones anyways, I believe that’s when the react keel came out. As far as other options I’ve heard people really like the triton allure series boats but I know zero about them. I believe warrior also makes a boat in the 19 foot class as well and you could never go wrong with a warrior plus not being married to one brand of motor would be huge. Just some more to think about.

For the WX1910, it went through a complete redesign in approx. 2020. About the only thing that was not changed was the model #.

This is spot on…the front bow on the 1910 is really high with very little edge to it. My buddy has a new 1910 and never thought about it but he has a 4 and 7yo and it’s an issue.

I have a 2019 1850 Reata, my buddy had an 18’ Solera and the other a 1910. All the boats fish really well but the 1910 handles really big water best (like superior). We’ve had all the boats on LOTW at the same time and they all handled it well. The Solera and Reata come with biminis, ski poles, and front bow cushions. The 1910 has much better storage but it’s a pretty purpose built machine.

You can get a Yamaha on all of them but most of the new Rangers have Mercs. Mine has a 175 Yamaha.

I’d buy another Reata in a heartbeat but we have a 9 yo. If I was only fishing, I would’ve gone with the 1880 Angler just because the rod storage is so much better. Nothing wrong with the Skeeters at all though. They do need trim tabs for even the 1910 though.

The guys The Boat Center in Chippewa or Ramsey will get you out for test drives. They’ve got Ranger and Skeeter and probably have some good used inventory.

I’ll take you out on P2 in the Reata if you’d like.
